Online ADRs Thread (Updated FAQ 9/9/9)

I booked my ADR's this morning online with very few issues. Here's what I figured out or learned while doing it. (my dates are 10/7-10/12)

1. have your "plan" written down. (where and when you want to eat. Also, who has early openings...I didn't want to be at MK when MGM was opening at 8:0am)
2. have your CC with you
3. have your phone nearby (in case you want the Fantasmic package, it had to be done on the phone. Thankfully, I realized this at 7:03am....I was still able to get it.)

I was worried online wouldn't work, since last night 2 days before my trip were still gray. I read a post here this morning, before online opened, that said those days go gray for about 1 1/2 hours the night before the 90 days opens up. So I felt better....I did try to get something before 6:00am est and they were still grayed out.

I used a Safari browser. I'm not sure if it matters, but I have a Mac and Firefox has been acting weird, so I didn't want to chance it. I was logged into my account before 6:00am est, so I could open up 3 tabs. In each tab I had 3 different restaurants already on the "make reservations" page. I think I had to link each tab with my reservation, but am not sure. (another reason to be online before 6:00am est)

As soon as it hit 6:01am, I hit refresh on each window. The days were now open for me. I started with one window, chose what I wanted, then hit submit. While it was loading I went to the second window and did the same.

If the time was available, then it showed up at the top. If not, I got a list of other places. The Royal Table was given as an option when The Crystal Palace wasn't available.

Other things I learned:

I could never figure out how to "see" my cart, other than by putting another reservation in it.

Your cart can only hold 10. After than you have to check out or delete one.

If you have 10 and you get the message to check out or delete, when you are done deleting one, go and research your last search. Your successful search (which would have been reservation #11) should still show up. (It did for me)

The easiest way to find the dining reservation page is to go to the top (log in first) and click on "Book", then "dining" from the pull down. Or go to http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/dining/. I didn't have a lot of time to review best how to use this system, so I struggled finding it sometimes.

I found the easiest way for me to search for a restaurant was to click on "restaurant" and click, sort Alphabetical and "view all". I used this once I got the top 3 I wanted. I closed the extra 2 windows, since I didn't want to risk loosing everything.

If you do the tabs or windows idea, be aware that after 20 mins of inactivity, it says you will loose your hold on that time. This is the main reason I closed the other tabs. It was easier to put them in the cart and analyze them later in the cart. They stay in the cart for 2 hours. Before I closed the tabs though, I made sure the places I wanted and had booked, showed up in the cart in the tab I kept.

For example, in tab #1 I booked Crystal Palace. In #2 Chef Mickey's. In #3 O'hana's. All were "put in my cart". Before I closed tabs #2 & #3, I went back to #1 and added my next reservation. When it was in the cart, I could see all 4 of the reservations. Only then did I close the tabs. (and held my breath, I'll admit) :scared:

When typing in the security codes/words, capitals don't matter.

If you do a search and the times/places you get offered don't work...don't click the "Make a reservation" link to the right. If you click that link, it takes you back to the same place. Go to the top above the picture of the restaurant and click on "restaurants". This will take you back to the beginning, where you can search "alphabetical" and "view all".

Alot of this seems confusing, but if you go in and search for places to eat before your 90 days comes up, you can find open days and see how the system works. I didn't think of this for me, so I had to just wing it.

Thankfully, it all worked out for me. I hope this helps someone else.:)

I figured out what the glitch fix was. For anyone who is having the same problem I was:

I was trying to bring up my reservation in the "my vacation" section. Disney still can't find it that way. I hadn't tried to actually book any dining, since I'm not in the window yet. But today I did a test run, and entered the same conf # and phone # to "associate" with my ADRs. It pulled up my ressie that way with no problem.

Phew! I feel better!

Let's say you search for 6PM at CRT, for talk's sake. The new window comes up with a 5:45 PM CRT ADR available, and you choose that. But you search for a few more ADRs for your trip before actually checking out. Does the system hold onto that ADR time for you at CRT or only once you are actually checking out? Do you automatically have it once you click to accept the time and place it in your cart, or only once you actually check out and have the confirmation number? Trying to figure out if, when I make my ADRs, I should go for CRT and Chef Mickey's first since they are the most popular of the restaurants I want, check out, then do the rest of the ADRs. I will also be making a total of 12 ADRs so this may be a good idea because of the limit of 10 at a time...do those two first, then the other 10 afterwards.

I'd agree with doing that. Theoretically it holds them (up to 2 hours, or 20 minutes with no activity), but if you have to split them up because you have 12, then I'd do the most critical 2-3 first and then check out. Just in case the computer locks up or you get kicked out of the system or whatever (computers don't tend to like me, can you tell? ;) ). Then if something happened, you'd still be early in trying again, rather than waiting until a half hour later when everything was done and finding out.

POOHBEAR8 ~ WOW, never thought about multiple tabs!! Thanks for all your help and tips!!

Agree! Thank you so much, POOHBEAR8. Can I ask a really dumb question though? When you say open up 3 "tabs" that means 3 different browser windows, right? So I bring up the Disney site with one window, log on, then minimize it, bring up another browser and then log onto that one, etc? Do I have to log on with my password, etc each time then? Also, how does one "window" know what the other one is doing?

On the time issue, say I put in 11:30 for CRT. Really, I'd take almost anything on that day, but I have to give a time. My concern is that it only looks one hour before or after that time, right? If they don't have anything around that time, then I have to start over with a new time? That makes me nervous. I wish you could give a range of times like you can the range of days.

You don't have to open new browsers---in your one browser you can open new tabs. In Firefox click on the littl plus sign or go to file, new tab.

Should be similar in Safari..

It is a really good idea, that's what I'm going to try...

But still worried why I can't get in with my ressie number--my window opens next month so I'm still assuming it is because of that...I can log in to my vacation and it recognizes it, so...

90+10days isnt working for me it has found my hotel reservation and all is correct but when I click the small window to choose a date to book a meal it only comes up with 90 days x

Are you already within your 90 days or is it coming up soon?
If you aren't at your 90 day from arrival yet it will not show the +10.

Others have reported having issues bringing up their +10 at anytime so it could also be a system issue.

PrincessBelle let me know when you are ready to book.

I will have to call the cancellation in as it is an ADR with a CC hold.

Hi Squirel
I'm ready to go. Sorry I haven't been on since we arranged this. Work and children problems. But I'm ready when ever it suits you.

Once the first tab was open, I logged in. The second tab (and third) were opened later and the Log-in held, so I was ready to go. (do a trial run to be sure)

You can search for a range of days, if you are staying onsite, which gives you the 10+ days. (so I was able to book 10/7-10/12 today even though 90 days from today is 10/7)

As for how to juggle CRT....I'm not sure. For me, I decided that CM was most important to my DD, so I searched for it first in tab one. Tab #2 was CRT. #3 was O'hana's. I was not surprised to find that CM ws not available, but was really shocked to find CRT offered for 8:30! Also, it kept coming up with time similar to what I was searching, if the first choice wasn't available. So when I searched for lunch at Sci Fi, it offered CRT at or around the same time. If CRT is your first choice, I think I would put it in the 3 tabs and search breakfast, lunch, and dinner times, either with a date range or not...depending on your schedule. That is my best guess. This is the first time I tried it today and was :scared1: when I actually got everything I wanted. Well, almost. Never did get CP at 8:05am.:sad2:

For the person who asked if the items in your cart hold...yes. At one point, I had 3 CRT reservations in my cart, since they kept showing up and I wasn't sure "when" I wanted to go. Also when you book one meal that overlaps another one, it will ask you to confirm it you want to do that. You just click continue. (ex. CM 10/8 @ 9:45am is in the cart and you add CRT 10/8 @ 9:00am, it will tell you have an overlap and if it's for 2 parties to just click continue)

I'm so glad my rambling helped others! I was so happy this morning to have it all fall into place. I just wanted to share what I learned.:yay:

Edited: one thing I forgot to mention....when I finally went to checkout, I put all the info in and at the end it came back and said that one of my choices was unavailable. Turns out I lost one of the CRT's. Not a big deal, since I had another one and I'm not 100% sure we are going to use it. I don't know why I lost it. It was there when I started to check out. I checked out a little after 7:15am, so I don't know what happened. So, IF CRT is really important, might want to grab the top 2 and check out to be sure you get them.

Can someone explain the 90 + 10 to me?

I booked with CRO yesterday, and my ADR date is 9/12... does this mean I can book on 9/2?

Also, I'm having some trouble entering my reservation number online... do they need the trip itinerary for me to make my reservations?

Thanks!

If you are staying at one of the Disney Resorts then on your 90 day, you can book your ADR's for that day and the next 10 days in one go. So on 9/12 you can book for the first 11 days of your trip (if you're staying that long).

Did you book with Disney or a TA? If with Disney, it should be very easy-type in your confirmation # and the telephone # that you gave when you booked.

If you booked with a TA then you need to find out what number they gave Disney when they booked it for you.

Did we ever figure out what was a good time? The weekend is coming up soon and I should be around to call.

Okay, I cannot get 90+10 to show up for me today!!! Can I still make 90+10 ressies on the phone?

ETA: Nevermind. I misunderstood the concept of 90 + 10. But a very nice CM explained it to me.

Okay so we have quite a while until the time comes to even make our ADRs :rolleyes1 but...

With a DVC reservation confirmation #, and if the DxDP has been added to that reservation before the 90-day mark, how does that work for making ADRs online/over the phone?? There are a couple reservations that will require pre-paying so I'd prefer to have that already taken out of the DxDP...

Does the dining plan come up when inputting a confirmation # online? Anyone done this since online ADRs came available? :confused3

Thanks!

(this is a double post fm the dvc boards - no one's responded there!)
