Online ADRs Thread (Updated FAQ 9/9/9)

I typically hang out on the theme park attractions & strategies board. I decided to stroll over to dining to see what was new. WOW! Was I ever blown away to discover online reservations are taking place now. I had heard a while back that they were entertaining that notion.

Since there's so many pages to this post, I haven't read all of them. I did notice, though, that some people mentioned they were having trouble getting the Hoop-De-Doo, so they may not get that reservation.

Can you not still call in your reservations and speak directly w/a cm?

I went Disney's main site and played around w/ making reservations. It seemed very time consuming. It seemed easier to have a cm tell me my time wasn't available but what times or dates were a second option rather than repeatedly typing in alternate dates/times.

I was just hoping someone could fill me in & get me updated.

I keep hearing this so there must be something to it. If you don't mind expressing your opinion, which of these would you suggest trying toward the end of our trip (October 2-11):

Chef Mickey's
'Ohana
HDDR (I've heard seems to be a problem with this not being in the system right now so I may not be able to book it at all)
Garden Grill*
50s PT Cafe*
Narcoossees
Kona Cafe
WCC

I'd start with Ohana as I also did this. From what I've been reading its one of the harder ones to get right now.
I'd then try for Chefs or HDDR
then Narcoosees followed by 50's
Kona seemed to come up alot as alternatives so I would'nt worry too much about that one first.
Garden grill does'nt seemto be a hard one to get either.
If you start with the harder ones they will be easier to get. The booking window has'nt opened up to many people so you have a better shotif you try to book them towards the end of your trip.
I started with the hardest the last day of trip and then went backwards from there.

Hi, Here's a question for the online ADR experts! Is there a way to access my cart other than adding something to it? For example, if I have ADR's in the cart, but then continue searching, do I have to add something just to get back to the cart? That is what I have been doing, but it is annoying to have to add something, just to have to delete it. Am I missing something? Thanks!

Yep, you can still call. That's how I found out about the online reservations! I was shocked when he told me because I usually know all things Disney (or hear some rumor about them happening). I guess I don't spend very much time on the Restaurants board. I think they don't have as many people answering phones now that they've introduced online ADR's. I was on hold forever (6 p.m. during a weekday).

I like the ability to do ADR's online and I'm glad you can check for a range of dates and that they check an hour before and an hour after I just wish you could select the restaurant and day and they could show you what's available. Of course, I'm sure that would be much more hassle than it would be worth, technically.

HDDR you'll probably have to do over the phone at 7am. I'd start w/ Chef M and Ohana at 6am online!

I did call in to see about HDDR. It was showing the CM the same thing as I saw online-only Tier 1 for the early shows and Tier 2 or 3 for the late show.

You shouldn't have too much problems getting any of your hard to book places at the end of your trip. You're there for 9nts. We'll be there for 10 and I was able to book everything I wanted (the popular LeCellier, O'Hana, Chef Mickey,s etc on the last few nights). As for your order, I've never been to Narcoossees, so I don't know how hard it is to book or not and I've heard people are having trouble with HDDR (for the level of seats offered on DP) but...like a previous OP suggested, I'd pretty much book, from what's left on your list, in order:

O'Hana
Chef Mickeys
WCC
50's PT
Kona
Garden Grill

I want to cancel one at Tusker House that I thought was a breakfast, now that I actually have a breakfast. My reservations won't show up anymore.

there is an orange suitcase in the upper right corner of the screen. click on that then a list of options will pop up....click "saved dining reservations" and it'll bring you back to your cart! Have fun!

I can't answer all of your questions. I can tell you that I was on Tuesday night of this week trying to make ADR's for my son and his girlfriend who arrived in Disney yesterday....yes, yesterday. I was able to get lunches at Fulton's, Biergarten, Sci-Fi, Plaza and breakfast at 1900 Park Fare. Of course, the first thing I tried was LeCellier, but there was nothing. I went back on Wednesday morning when I got to work (around 8:15 a.m. CST) and I put in LeCellier for the heck of it and was able to get a lunch reservation. My guess is someone had just cancelled and I happened to plug in at just the right time.

You can use the online system starting at 6am EST. I just made my ressies this morning and it was very easy. I am not sure about more availability with the online system though. I have a few posts on here about people actually calling to place their ressies.

I used the online reservation system back on 6/25 and it worked great! I logged on at 6am and got all of my ADR's before the phone system opened at 7am. Very user friendly!

I did both online and by phone this morning.
I felt it was much easier to do it by phone, although I was on hold for awhile. I thought I was ready to use the online system, but was not familiar enough with it.

The phone lady did tell me that she has the SAME openings as the online system......however.......as soon as I hung up with her, I was able to go online and got MUCH better times for my ressies.

I used it but it didn't work out for me. I tried to book Sanaa online and tried everyday and just one 2PM slot was available. I then tried to call Disney instead and they had the exact 7PM time that I wanted. If you can't find your ADR online, I'd suggest to just try calling to see if it will work as well.
