Online ADRs Thread (Updated FAQ 9/9/9)

WOW - they charge your credit card right away - I wasn't expecting that. I'm not sure if this has been discussed before, but just an FYI. When you book over the phone, they don't charge your card right away its just a credit card guarentee.

Are you on the dining plan? I ask because I also booked online & there was a note saying that your card would not be charged, & mine has not so far, nor is there a pending charge showing up, but maybe it's just too soon.

Can I go back into the on-line system using those confirmation numbers to change/tweak anything, or am I toast and have to go strictly through the phone always? The IT guy couldn't answer that one (yet).

As far as I've seen no one can make changes to existing ADR's through the online system, regardless of whether those ADR's were made online or over the phone.

Anyone can make new ADR's through the online system once it is within 90 days. The only restriction to making new ADR's online is for the +10 of the 90+10- that can only be done if you can pull up your resort reservation.

Theoretically, anyone can pull up phoned-in ADR's using the confirmation # and phone # if you made the ADR's yourself. However, there have been reports of problems with pulling up reservations (mostly from those who used travel agents or are DVC). If you can pull them up, you can cancel any ones that did not require an advanced payment even if you booked them by phone.

Anyone can phone and cancel existing ADR's.

So, in other words... using the online ADR system to change existing ADR's means that you need to book a new ADR and then cancel the old one. So you can do all your checking for better times/dates using the online system, and then just cancel any reservations that you want to replace.

Sorry if this has been asked or covered before!

Any way to do online ADRs with a split stay? And if not, should I just do the first part of my stay online, and then the split stay part call in for.... which is the next question, can I do the split stay part which falls still under my 90+ 10 over the phone even?
thanks!

I was trying to make reservations for my 90 days ADR and realized that September 21st is blocked out. I was wondering if anyone else saw the same thing? Is the online ADR shut down on weekends?

Thanks

I was able to make ADRs for that day.

When I get within the 90 days, I can make dining reservations on-line on a daily basis, not the 90+10 right? Because the system won't recognize my AAA confirmation resort reservation number and won't give the +10 right? If the system doesn't recognize my vacation package at all, it can't connect anything to identify that I'm on the dining plan right? So I can use the on-line system, but my credit card will be charged to hold the dining reservations right? Oh... so many questions? Because of going through a travel agent, it would be best to work via phone for this trip right? It's all karma anyway... if you're supposed to get a ressie, you will right? And besides - it's Disney! Where else would anyone rather be? Vakay

Now... I was getting a little paranoid that my reservation existed (I know it does - right?). So, I called back and spoke to IT. The IT guy told me, essentially, the CM was correct. He said that AAA "owned" my reservation, and unless they were willing to give it over to Disney (which he said wouldn't happen) that in essence I couldn't check my resort reservation, or do on-line dining reservations through that reservation. So, really... If you booked through a travel agent how will Disney ever get the website to work for you?

You can look up your Disney resort reservation booked through a TA on www.mydisneyreservation.com/guest as you have learned you cannot view it on disneyworld.com. Disney created the mydisneyreservation link when they announced the online resort checkin.

Now since they knew that anyone booked through a TA couldn't pull up their resort reservation on disneyworld.com and they created this other website for online check in why didn't they create a way for the online dining to be pulled up for anyone booked through a TA.

Disney is aware of the situation and is working on a fix but no one knows how long it will take. They are also getting a lot of calls from DVC members as they have the same issues.

The reason the online dining is not working for those with DVC and those through a TA is because there isn't a phone number associated with those reservations and when building the resort reservation on the TA end there isn't anywhere to enter a guest phone number.

Thanks ga9497...

I'm sorry... I forgot to mention in all my rambling that the IT guy told me about the other "guest" website, and that I would be able to do on-line check-in 10 days prior to arrival. Weird how they can identify me at that point? (greater minds than mine) And, yes, my travel agent at AAA told me that Disney wouldn't be able to recognize my resort reservation within the dining reservations because they are not required to list a telephone number with the reservation. With my tiny brain, I can't figure how the two will ever connect - but, it would be great if they did! In the meantime, if I have to call things in, it's okay... I'm cool with that.

Thanks for the "easy-to-understand" explanation! Much appreciated.

Please help me understand without reading all 80+ pages of posts. If I booked through a TA, I cannot use the online system? Our day for reservations is coming up this weekend.
Thanks!

You can still get on at the same time. Where you are at doesn't matter. Just figure out what time 6am Eastern time is when coverted to western time. Everyone can get online at the same time. Just figure out what time it is in your neck of the woods when it is 6am EST.
(So I have been told)
I guess..... you like waking up at 3 am. I thought, 4 am was bad enough but 3 am is worst. Can you imagine I'm gonna have to set my alarm for 2:45 am? I think this stinks, I'm not sure how you think it is fair that a East coaster can rest the entire night while I have to get up earlier. That's the part that is unfair. But if DVCers have to wait until 7 am EST time while everyone else gets to start at 6 am EST time that is a bit unfair as well... Sorry my post wasn't clear.

Check the first post, it explains why you cannot do it if you booked through a TA.

Does anyone know if I can cancel a dining reservation my TA makes through the online site rather than making my TA do it? I didn't know if TA dining reservations are also missing the phone number like vacation reservations.

My 90+10 starts in a couple days and I feel bad to make my TA spend time making reservations only to cancel them later if something better shows up. I'd rather go online myself to cancel them.

Anyone have this happen? Booked three ADRs online...went through all the things to checkout. Took forever for page to load. Then up top it said something in red to the extent that there was a problem and not all the reservations went through.
so under that did come up with two of the ones I made - the other didn't show up.
So am wondering if by chance it DID go through somehow on their end? just want to book it, but don't want to end up double booked.

Only 1 more to go

I just made my Rose & Crown ADR for 9/30 for 12:25PM. I was debating on R&C or Le Cellier for 6:15PM but I decided since I have been to Le Cellier 3 times and Rose & Crown not once, it was time to mix it up. Plus our last experience at Le Cellier wasn't the best and I know someone else would probably appreciate it more than I would :) But I did check just for the heck of it and as of a couple minutes ago, Le Cellier was still available for 2 people on 9/30 at 6:15PM and 5:55PM.

Only Narcoossee's left to make tomorrow night!

yes if they made them online you should be able to bring them up and cancel them. Or you can call in and cancel them

Are you seeing this...
"Do you have a Resort reservation for the same days for which you're making dining reservations?
If so, please retrieve your reservation. "
... just above the area you can enter your date and time?

Click on it to input your Disney room reservation. If you can put it in, it will say "Your 09/18/2009 - 10/02/2009 Disneys Pop Century Resort vacation has been retrieved and will be associated with any dining reservations you make for those dates. " Or mine did... I am sure your's has different dates and/or resort.

Then you should be able to see up through 9/30.

Well, I'm up to do 2 ADR's for our Epcot day. I made the Akershus one, but tried to do Teppan Edo, and it says "Dining System Unavailable". I know it won't book up in the first 10 minutes, but I'd really rather just have it done....

Anyone else having problems with certain restaurants?

Hi again... give me a moment and I can see if I can try and book it :)

Well, I am now more convinced than ever that they do just release a portion of the table online, or maybe even at 90 + 10. I wanted a 1:00 lunch at Akershus, and I tried at 6 Eastern online, and no matter what I did, all it offered me was 12:25 and 1:30.

No biggie, I just took 12:25. But interesting......

I just looked for Teppan Edo and was able to find it for 2 people for 6:30PM.
ETA: I just tried for 4 people for 7:00PM and had success.

Try it again mom2rtk!
