Online ADRs Thread (Updated FAQ 9/9/9)

Well dont feel too bad. This east coaster is a DVC member and online ressies still are not working right for us so i have to call. Giving everyone else an hour headstart on me.
Well... I own DVC too. So, we can't do online reservations either. UGH... I hope they fix that before our next trip. We are going in 7 days and so, I tweaked a few when the online thing came up and I liked it.

There were two times available this morning (10 am CST) for 9/19 when I checked (using no ressie number) but they are gone now. Of course I didn't actually put them in a cart and pay for them, but the selections came up with the radial buttons to select and all...:confused3

(note to self get a screen shot next time)

I did my ADRs this morning on the online system, at 6:01 am. It all seemed to work fine. The site was a little slow, but then I always find the Disney site slow. I did manage to book breakfast at Cinderella's Royal Table for 9/23 (I know some have been having problems). The only glitch I had was that I accidentally put in different phone numbers for some of the reservations (I did CRT first as its own reservation, and then did the others). I put a cell phone number for one and home phone for the other (just not thinking. It was kind of early). It's not a big deal, but just a bit of a pain to have to look them up separately if you want to check something later.

THANK YOU! I was starting to doubt my own sanity as it was before I had my coffee this morning!:surfweb:

The problem w/ CRT has not been the 90 day mark. It has been trying to book for the last day of the 90-10 mark.

I was on @ 6am this morning and there was NO availability!

Today was the first day the 29th was even available for booking and it was totally unavailable!

Apparently, the same thing happened for people who tried to cook CRT yesterday @ the 90-10 mark.

There is STILL no availability for either day.

Any other day is possible.

OOPS! I meant people who tried to BOOK! I guess if they're trying to COOK CRT, that might be the problem!! ;)

i made my ressies online today and can't get them to show up when i try to look at all of them under my disney vacation...i called a cm and she says she is showing all 7 in her computer....so obviously they don't have that part fixed yet

I wasnt able to find them under my disney vacation/itinerary either but when I put it the individual restaurant confirmation numbers and my phone number I was able to pull them all up.

Are you serious 6 am EST time for online? Oh brother!!! Man that is doing to make it difficult for us West Coasters. UGH!!! and much easier for East Coasters.

You can still get on at the same time. Where you are at doesn't matter. Just figure out what time 6am Eastern time is when coverted to western time. Everyone can get online at the same time. Just figure out what time it is in your neck of the woods when it is 6am EST.
(So I have been told)

The problem so far has just been with the 28th and 29th. People checking online at 6 AM and those checking by phone at 7 AM at 90 + 10, so the first possible booking dates, have found nothing yet. There was never a problem reported with the 19th.

That is weird. That definitely sounds like a technical glitch - they've programmed it to only go to 90+9 for some reason (or probably accidentally).

And the point in my original post in this thread was about why some tables are probably being "held" for the 90 day mark. I simply stated that I was able to see 2 spots for 90 days from today... then someone said no CRTs were in the system... I took that to mean no CRTs at all... I apologize if I misunderstood.

I still think Disney is holding table for the 90 day mark. I also can see why there are all the problems with being able to "see" between systems. This is the same website that you can't make online payments or view resort ressies unless you book online. I've never been impressed with Disney's websites (main or subsites like DVC or DCL). I for one never thought we'd have online ADRs so I am impressed that it is up and running and not crashing every 2 minutes!

SuzieQMomof 4, I went to the online reservations, entered the restaurant I wanted then went to make reservations. I then entered the date and times I wanted to check. Fortunately a time came up that was available that I preferred over the one I currently had. I made the reservation then I double checked it by retrieving my reservation they also sent an e-mail confirming the reservation. At that point I cancelled the earlier reservation I had made. Hope thats not too confusing. LOL

I don't know if this will help anyone, but I wanted to share what I did in my OCD way before making ADRs.

-Cleaned out the cache/cookies/history/everything from my browser last night (using Safari 4 on a MacBook Pro).

-Did _not_ log in to anything until 6:01 am. Then I entered the confirmation number/phone number and proceeded from there. I was worried that if I got started before the rollover time, the system wouldn't know to open up all the dates for me. I think it's best never to overestimate the capabilities of the Disney website.

From reading back through the last couple of pages of posts, it sounds like some people got "locked out" of the site - maybe by logging in too early? I know some problems have been because of AAA, glitches in the Disney system, and a several other reasons. But this is just a thought to see if it helps anyone.

I think it's very possible they are holding some tables for the 90 day mark. It makes sense. It seems awfully unfair to those trying to make reservation who aren't staying on Disney property that they would never even have a _chance_ of getting some of the tougher reservations at WDW.

I was trying to make reservations for my 90 days ADR and realized that September 21st is blocked out. I was wondering if anyone else saw the same thing? Is the online ADR shut down on weekends?

Thanks

We can't make our ADR's until July 15th however I have read that you can now book online. Which option is better and at what time can you start booking online? Thanks, Linda

You can book online at 6am eastern and can't book via the phone til 7am. So generally speaking you're better off with the one hour head start. :goodvibes

ok, i have all my restaurants booked for august, but i've been checking the availability on line and the one Ive been waiting for has become available. do i proceed and type in that squiggly number and save it, or do i call the res. ph number and ask the person i speak with to add it to my dining plan? if i do this, what happens if it's gone by the time i speak with someone???

put in the "squiggly words" and it will add it to your cart. You can then go to check out- it will ask for your email and ph#. it will then email you a copy.

If you are replacing another ADR and need to cancel the old one, go to "My Vacation" in the top right, go to 'dining reservations, put in your confirmation code for the prior reservation and the phone # that is attached to your hotel reservation, and then hit cancel. OR you can just call the WDW DINE and have them cancel it for you.

Hope that helps!

book it on line, then call to cancel one if needed. That is what I did.

I could not find a booking for Sept 25 CRT breakfast at any time. Every other day of the week had bookings. I do think it was strange. I do not know if it is a glitch , but I will check every morning to see if something opens up.

I did get a 8:05 on Sept 23 so even if I can't get Sept 25 (my DD birthday), it will be all right:)

(Please keep reading through... Don't stop reading when you see that I booked through a travel agent).....

Okay, I have a AAA vacation package booked in October. My 90+10 for dining isn't until next month, so I'm not panicing - I understand how that works. I also understand that the system isn't working for those people who booked through a travel agent.

I've been playing around on the dining site like many of you have. It's really cool and seems to be a very positive move.

Not being a computer whiz, and not knowing these dis boards in-and-out like many of you, I learned something new today: I thought at the very least I could bring up my resort reservation on the Disney website. Well, it seems that I cannot because I did not book through Disney - Wow, but okay - that makes sense. The original CM I spoke to through Disney Vacation Packages told me that my reservation through AAA will not show up until 24 hours prior to arrival. It shows up on the resorts website, but that seems to be a different website. Now... I was getting a little paranoid that my reservation existed (I know it does - right?). So, I called back and spoke to IT. The IT guy told me, essentially, the CM was correct. He said that AAA "owned" my reservation, and unless they were willing to give it over to Disney (which he said wouldn't happen) that in essence I couldn't check my resort reservation, or do on-line dining reservations through that reservation. So, really... If you booked through a travel agent how will Disney ever get the website to work for you?

Do I have this thought out correctly? Does it make sense?

It's okay if that's how it is... I'm alright with that. Now... if that's the case, after all this rambling on: Once my 90+10 day window comes up for dining reservations and I call in to a CM at 7 am to make my dining reservations personally (instead of going through AAA and their travel agent system-- only because I'm a control freak when it comes it my eating) and I write down all my confirmation numbers.... hold on! here comes the question: Can I go back into the on-line system using those confirmation numbers to change/tweak anything, or am I toast and have to go strictly through the phone always? The IT guy couldn't answer that one (yet).

Don't panic, don't get bent out of shape... just do it the old way - like I always did it. And, next vacation go through the My Disney Vacation website and book, and then get the chance to use this new on-line dining system... right??????????????

My options right now because I booked through AAA are:

1. Call AAA at 90 days and let them handle my dining reservations (NOT).

2. Call at 7 a.m. at 90 days, let Dining know where I'm staying and that I'm on the DDP and do my dining reservations like I've always done them via phone and writing down confirmation numbers (seems the likely ticket).

3. Re-book my vacation plans through the My Disney Vacation website and that way get to use the on-line reservations (NOT).

God... all this thinking has my brain fried (I don't take much - believe me!).

Thanks for any responses - and best wishes to all of you who have had luck in using this system. Like I said, it looks awesome!
