(Please keep reading through... Don't stop reading when you see that I booked through a
travel agent).....
Okay, I have a
AAA vacation package booked in October. My 90+10 for dining isn't until next month, so I'm not panicing - I understand how that works. I also understand that the system isn't working for those people who booked through a travel agent.
I've been playing around on the dining site like many of you have. It's really cool and seems to be a very positive move.
Not being a computer whiz, and not knowing these dis boards in-and-out like many of you, I learned something new today: I thought at the very least I could bring up my resort reservation on the Disney website. Well, it seems that I cannot because I did not book through Disney - Wow, but okay - that makes sense. The original CM I spoke to through Disney Vacation Packages told me that my reservation through AAA will not show up until 24 hours prior to arrival. It shows up on the resorts website, but that seems to be a different website. Now... I was getting a little paranoid that my reservation existed (I know it does - right?). So, I called back and spoke to IT. The IT guy told me, essentially, the CM was correct. He said that AAA "owned" my reservation, and unless they were willing to give it over to Disney (which he said wouldn't happen) that in essence I couldn't check my resort reservation, or do on-line dining reservations through that reservation. So, really... If you booked through a travel agent how will Disney ever get the website to work for you?
Do I have this thought out correctly? Does it make sense?
It's okay if that's how it is... I'm alright with that. Now... if that's the case, after all this rambling on: Once my 90+10 day window comes up for dining reservations and I call in to a CM at 7 am to make my dining reservations personally (instead of going through AAA and their travel agent system-- only because I'm a control freak when it comes it my eating) and I write down all my confirmation numbers.... hold on! here comes the question: Can I go back into the on-line system using those confirmation numbers to change/tweak anything, or am I toast and have to go strictly through the phone always? The IT guy couldn't answer that one (yet).
Don't panic, don't get bent out of shape... just do it the old way - like I always did it. And, next vacation go through the My Disney Vacation website and book, and then get the chance to use this new on-line dining system... right??????????????
My options right now because I booked through AAA are:
1. Call AAA at 90 days and let them handle my dining reservations (NOT).
2. Call at 7 a.m. at 90 days, let Dining know where I'm staying and that I'm on the
DDP and do my dining reservations like I've always done them via phone and writing down confirmation numbers (seems the likely ticket).
3. Re-book my vacation plans through the My Disney Vacation website and that way get to use the on-line reservations (NOT).
God... all this thinking has my brain fried (I don't take much - believe me!).
Thanks for any responses - and best wishes to all of you who have had luck in using this system. Like I said, it looks awesome!
