Online ADRs Thread (Updated FAQ 9/9/9)

Well I got on the phone this morning as soon as the lines opened up and sat on hold for 30min. in the mean time I hopped on line and made all of my ADR's before the CM even picked up the phone!!!!!! We got some good ones to like CRT, CM,CP, Lecellier, and Ohana's just to name a few!!!!!!:woohoo:

Just a heads up if anyone is wondering what happened to their thread.

As stated in the first post, due to the sheer number of questions and amount of information flying around about Online ADR's, we're going to try to keep all of the questions and answers limited to this thread for a while.

For newbies to this thread, there is a FAQ in the first post of this thread. The moderators are trying to keep up with all of the questions and answers in this thread and update the FAQ as we find out new information and discover new Frequently Asked Questions.

Thanks for understanding! It's an exciting time, but challenging only because it's all so new to everyone. :goodvibes

Can someone please help me? I tried to go through the online booking system yesterday for a "trial run" before my 90 day mark. For instance I clicked on Boma, then make a reservation. Then it says, "loading booking system" - it sat like that for literally hours! I left my computer and came by hours later and it still said loading booking system. so I tried again today and the same thing is happening????

Also, if you booked through AAA, then when you put in your confm. # the disney system doesn't recognize it, correct?

Does anyone know how Disney inputs UK telephone numbers into their system, I know that I have the right US reservation number but it keeps telling the register phone number on the account is wrong, so I can't pull up my reservation on the syatem???

I think it varies. One problem is that almost all non-US telephone numbers have more than 10 digits, and the online system flatly refuses to let you enter more than 10 digits! Stupid, stupid, stupid!!!

For a UK number like 0208 123 4567, to be accurate they should be entering "+44 2081234567". However I don't know if they can enter "+" into the phone number field. They might try the US-dial version of "011 44 2081234567" or "44 2081234567" or just "2081234567". Or even just enter what they've been told, "02081234567". No wonder it never matches!

If the online system insists on limiting the field to 10 characters, it should at least pattern-match with the last ten numeric characters in the database stored field as that would catch most possibilities. Probably better still to match the 7 least significant digits though, in case anyone forgets an area code. This is only a confirmation field after all, the main data is the reservation number.

We booked with AAA last Sept for our trip this Sept. I just looked up our conformation # on the Disney site online and it was there. I've been reading that I will not be able to book our ADR online because we booked with AAA? What information would I need to book online? Would my AAA TA have that information ?:confused3

Im a little bit confused so maybe someone here can help me out. My check in date is October 4th. Does this mean I can start making my ADRs on September 26th (90+10 days from 10/4) or July 6th (90 days from 10/4) Thanks!

It would be July 6. YOu will be able to book for Oct. 4 - Oct. 14 on that day if you are a WDW resort guest.

I'm on a MACBook and cant use the System.

Is there anyway I can use it?!

thanks

Why not have your AAA TA make your ADRs for you? Isn't that why you hired them, so you wouldn't get stressed out over your vacation planning?

Okay my 90 day mark was this morning. I had gotten up before dawn to go see the Balloon festival so when I got in I started booking my ADRs online. I was almost done and everything in my shopping cart while waiting for a CM to answer a simple question on the phone I got bored opened another window to check my email. Well my computer closed my reservation window to open the new one. I went back searched for a way to reopen my shopping cart and could not find it. I felt I had wasted all that time so when the CM answered I just had her book all my ADRs. Except one important one that she showed NO availability on. On a whim I went back online and tried to book the ADR and low and behold it was available and it took me to my original cart with all my saved items including the other one at the same time. So I then had to delete everything to avoid double booking and now I have all my meals booked that I wanted.

My take on the online system is it is very very slow but it works. I spent the better part of an hour to make 10 dinner reservations.

You are able to search dining availability for specific restaurants on specific date ranges during specific times by going to the Disney World website and clicking on dining. Restaurants that take ADRS will have a "book a reservation" tab under them.

I am on a macbook and was able to use the system. It worked with both Safari and Firefox.

I'm on an even older G4 iBook and was able to use the system fine. I have heard there are crashes today, so I'd recommend trying again.

Even though I have not been able to pull up my reservations due to the DVC glitch, I have found the site to be very quick and responsive and never any problems with using it or it being slow. In fact I found it to be very fast.

I got email confirmation immediately and booking was easy and quick.

There's a commonality here that most people are unwilling or unable to admit. There is no technical reason why some people (DVC and TA guests aside) should be able to reserve their 90+10 and others cannot. Those who cannot either originally booked under the old CRO system and/or are punching in the wrong phone number associated with the reservation, or they are not logged in when they go to make their ADR reservations, which is why the system doesn't recognize their resort reservation. I realize no one will admit to this, and everyone will say the information input on their end is 100% accurate, but computer systems (including Disney's, yes I know) don't have glitches that way. If it didn't work for some people, it shouldn't work for all people, and vice versa.

In any event, for every person who has had a problem booking 90+10, I have heard of equally as many success stories. Maybe those who are having trouble gave the incorrect info when they originally booked their resort reservations, or maybe they are inputting the information incorrectly now. Either way, the info has to match on both ends and it's not. My belief is it has something to do with your phone number. That seems to be the consensus amongst all complaints.

I resent your post! I have talked to tech service several times. The phone number for my reservation is correctly my home #. When they go into the dining system, there is no phone number associated with my reservation. When they try to enter one, it won't take. So, that sounds like my fault, HUH?

All this techie stuff makes my head hurt but how can it be available online but not available to the CM? How can they not be looking at the same information? :confused3 :confused3 :confused3

I have not tried the dining online booking yet but want to try it for my next trip in November, 09. I have booked our hotel using Dvc points and have a reservation number for Saratogo Springs. I will try to reserve a dining reservation and let you all know if it works.

What is the 90 + 10 reference to? Is it that you can reserve dining from 90 days out from check in day?

You just proved my point: When they try to enter your phone #, it won't take. Then it's a problem with your #, not the system, because that same system is "taking" tens of thousands of other people's #s. Computer systems, least of Disney's, do not discriminately pick and choose who they would like to log in and utilize the system (excluding DVC and TA guests at this time). You can blame the "big bad" Disney website and their IT department all you want. The bottom line is that it's working for a majority of the people who use it. The 40-50 who are on these boards complaining about it not working for them represent less than half of 1% of total users.

I'm not trying to ruffle any feathers. I'm just pointing out the obvious. :)
