Hi all,
I just googled the lighthouse sandwich and stumbled on a thread on some veg. board about veg. dining at Disney...and the girl writing the report said that the onions and mushrooms on the toppings bars are NOT vegetarian  She was vegan, so I'm hoping she meant vegan, but I'm concerned as I've eaten and enjoyed said items and hoped to do so again in the future.
Anybody know?

I don't understand...they are vegetables right? How can they not be vegetarian? Am I missing something? :)

They are cooked on the same grill as bacon and burgers, so they are NOT vegetarian as they have cross-contamination issues.

Onions and mushrooms - as in, the ones found on the toppings bars around WDW - are commonly sauteed in butter or using 'drippings' from cooked meat, and therefore would not be vegan and may also not fit some vegetarians' preferences.

hth.

I agree. Vegans don't eat butter or items that have been made with animal fat. I know those delicious mushrooms have been sauteed in butter!!! Mmm, Mmm!

:scared: Bummer. Thanks. We're usually so careful, but they're usually pretty good about cross-contamination at Disney (separate fryers, etc.), so we didn't even think of this. ICK!

Thanks!

The Meat Mongers have Disciused Liver to look like mushrooms and onions!!,quick call the vegan police:rotfl2: :rotfl2: ,sorry I just thought that was a great spot for a joke:happytv: .

i disagree with most of the posts above. i think they are perfectly ok.

At least at Pecos Bills they aren't cooked with the burgers or the bacon.

They're cooked at the toppings bar on special little grills.

Now I don't know what there cooked in but I wouldn't call them contaminated. I would call them good.:thumbsup2
