ONION HATERS unite!

I cooked Thanksgiving dinner for everyone - I cooked everything so I have control over what is prepared and what ingredients I use..... Guess what?
No onions anywhere!!!!

And it all tasted delicious - no complaints!

Maybe we can share our best NO ONION recipes here. I posted my NO Onion salsa a page back. There must be some other great recipes out there we can all make that our families won't even notice the difference unless we tell them. :teeth:

Anyone want to share?

I'd love a great no onion stuffing. :)

Just checking: How did all you Onion Haters survive Thanksgiving? Especially if others were cooking? People always put onions in stuffing & gravies.

Luckily, I'm not the only Onion Hater in my family. I have a sister who eats almost no vegetables at all! Also, a niece and a couple of nephews who are fellow Onion Haters. So, my Thanksgiving was an Onion-Free Zone!

 That would be me also. I like corn & carrots only - & only if the carrots are cooked. I don't eat salad, raw veggies, nothing like that. People don't understand that I really, really don't enjoy the taste & especially don't like the texture.

It makes for interesting conversation when we're at formal functions I guess.

Ugh! I so hate onions - maybe it has something to do with the fact that my 2 sisters held me down when I was 10 & forced me to eat a raw onion...not the whole onion, but enough to make me hate onions in anything. I try to order anything out without onions & do occasionally have to pick them out looking like a picky little kid!

No one gets the "texture thing". When I'm eating soups DH will always say, "You can't even taste them." Yeah, but I can "feel" them! YUCK!!!!!
OMG! Someone who understands me! You have no idea how happy that makes me! No one in my family understands. :(

I don't particularly mind the taste of onions cooked with other foods. I refuse to eat a raw onion. It is just so icky to me. I'm the same way with all other vegetables. It's not a taste thing, its a texture thing. I just can't eat them. I absolutely cannot be in the room if someone is cutting an onion. My eyes tear up and start to burn!! To the point that it hurts to keep them open and to close them! So I get all flustered and just run out of the room.

Thank you for this thread. I always thought I was the one and only person who couldn't stand onions mainly because of texture. Now I feel like I belong!

You are not alone - we are here to support you! :goodvibes

I am a glorified Onion Hater.

When Mom would make like Spagettie or Chilli, she had to like chop both the onions and green peppers extremely finely. Even now I run them thru a food processor. I like the flavor, just can't look at them.

I hate having to pick them off my burgers.. :confused3

oh..I also don't tomatoes....love ketcup though :rotfl2:

Anti-onion family here. (Dh and kids are not fans either) My family was always kind enough to cook around my onion aversion.

My DBIL can't stand them raw or cooked or even just a tiny bit in a recipe. He will ask if their in the food and even though you can't pick out the taste he won't eat it. Our family holiday recipes have cooked chopped onion that is cooked for a very long time and without the onion they just aren't the same but I have learned to set aside some of the recipe before I add the onion, just for him, and we end up with two of the same dish - one w/onion and one w/out onion and he is very happy. :thumbsup2

i hate onions. i don't get why they are put in EVERYTHING!

no i do NOT want onions in my soup, thank you!! yuk!!

:jumping3: Bumping for equal time in relation to the Those crispy onions from the can... thread. :teeth:

For those who have such a cow at old threads being bumped , I'm sure everyone who hated onions before, STILL DO. :p

:woohoo: I hate onions too! They overpower the taste. A little goes a long way. And most people think it enhances and go overboard!

Still don't like them... I make the Thanksgiving stuffing so I can make sure there are no onions in it! But it was still delicious!!!

My name is Laurie and I am an onion hater..... :yay:

I hated onions when I was a kid.....I still am not crazy about raw onions but I love cooked ones.

I never met an onion that I liked. :sad2:

I can spot a onion a mile away :sail: and will spend however long it takes picking them out of my food.

When I "eat" onion rings, I eat the batter and throw the onion away. :p

You sound just like me! And I'm glad the old thread was revived, I didn't see it the first time around and I'm glad I get to share my hatred of onions with all of you. I hate onions with a passion. I still say we need a pukey smiley to express my feelings here. This will have to do :crazy2:
