Learned something new today.... it isnt always easy to get one point. Of course I have only been looking for a couple of hours, and two people have been kind enough to offer points... it is just I need certain points..

I am posting this here incase someone can find/confirm a loop hole.

I still need one current 2003 UY for our trip in Oct. I will be calling MS tomorrow to see if a current 2004 FEB(has started) uy point can be transfered.

We already confirmed that Oct 2004(since UY hasnt started) points cant be used, since they would go into my 2004 UY which I am borrowing from, but I would not be able to borrow the transfered point. I thought I read that the computer couldnt tell it was a transfered point and would let you borrow it... can anyone confirm this?

I suspect we may be outta luck. I beleive the point we need must come from a UY that hasnt occured yet, and be from 2003 (or is that the same thing)

. ::::: SIGH ::::::

Anyone else have thoughts....

After I had points transferred into my account I asked for a print out of activity so I could see what was going on. The computer can track that they are transferred points and the use year of those points. What it can't do is track the home resort of the points if they are different from your home resort.

I had BCV points transferred into my account. I thought they would put them in as BCV points but instead they became VWL points because that was my master contract. I had to make a couple of calls to straighten it out but eventually they put them under my BCV contract and I could use them at the 11 month mark.

Good luck. I find the whole tranfer thing one of the most difficult to get a grip on because the rules that are written aren't necessarily the rules that DVC goes by.

You can definitely bank or borrow transferred points. I have been involved in two transactions exactly like this. MS had no problems with it either time.

The restriction is that borrowed or banked points cannot be transferred. But transferred points can be borrowed/banked.

And the other thing is that, as far as MS was concerned, these were perfectly valid transactions. It's not like they acted like I was exploiting a glitch or anything. Both times I did it they simply said that it's no problem.

Thanks bunches :bounce:

I just had a conversation with MS this week concerning my two accounts with different use years. Here's how I understand it:

The DVC member who offered to transfer the single point from his/her Feb-04 allotment should be able to successfully complete the transfer to you with no problem. I was told that Disney will only transfer points that are neither banked nor borrowed. Since this point is in the user's current use year, that is not the case. The point will transfer over to you, available from Feb-04 through Jan-05. You will have the option to bank the point to Feb-05 through Jan-06, but that won't be necessary since you want to use it for an Oct-04 trip.

The only other possible slip up is that points can only be transferred one way in a given use year. That means that for your transfer to be successful, the other DVC member must not have transferred points into his/her account in the 04 use year, and you must not have transferred any points out of your account in your use year.

Enjoy your trip!

On the phone with MS now... several times MS has said, your cant transfer borrowed or banked points, with me replying I want a 'virgin' point transfered into my 2004 account, then borrow it from that UY...

She keeps reading and once again finds info saying you cant transfer bank or borrowed points... LOL

I am now on hold....

I have no clue what the song is.... tra la la

Okay... they will do a manual transfer and they think it will work!!!

I will keep you all posted.

your aren't transferring "banked or borrowed points", but current use year points........the borrowing comes later and hopefully shouldn't be a problem
