Before I move on, I wanted to mention that I forgot to mention something that should have been mentioned
On our sea day, we did hand out our FE gifts in the afternoon. Our tablemate, HilaryOne had made a nice list for us with all 58 cabins in numerical order, with the names of the guests and their children, if any. We started at the top and worked our way down to deck 1. I didn't even know there were cabins on Deck 1. The things you learn. We had alot of fun - I did notice there was some other thread out there, maybe from cruise critic.

There were FE's on doors of people who were not listed - or maybe they have heard about a jolly sea captain who comes around at night and leaves goodies in your FE if you hang one out???

We almost got caught on one occasion. We were heading to a door and two ladies came down the hall from the other way and stopped at it - we did an about face and hurried the other way, to return later.

I wasn’t planning on staying up to watch the Royal Wedding – I just figured it would be in reruns for a long time. So we went to bed at a reasonable hour and watched “Life as we Know It.” For the 3rd time. I fell asleep for a few hours with the TV on, but I didn’t sleep well as the sea was really rough. I woke up and looked up the ship’s position to see how close we were to SF. I clicked on the BBC channel, and guess what?

The Royal Wedding was playing live! It was at the part where Kate was arriving in her car with her father. I ended up watching the whole thing, dozing a little here and there when they were leaving the church, and then waking up to see them arriving at the palace in their carriage. I fell asleep and woke up again for THE KISS! So technically I didn’t stay up to watch the wedding, but I did watch the wedding.

I went back to sleep at 3 am and the alarm rang at 6 so we could be out on deck by 6:15. I don’t know why I didn’t have Mickey wake us up – not one time. I guess I just forgot. I got up and got dressed and brushed my teeth and we headed up to Deck 10 for the Golden Gate Bridge festivities.


It was pretty much a bunch of zombies in coats and blankets peering out from under their hats or blankies on their heads. It was a pretty somber group. Jim ran down to Deck 9 to get me some coffee and I found the place I wanted to be. Just in front of the front stack, next to the rail. The excitement started to build as we neared our destiny. We were the first Disney ship to cross under the Golden Gate Bridge!!!

The bridge came closer and closer. Our theme song played on the horn, “When you Wish Upon a Star.” I expected to see some DISers up on the bridge to wave to us, but only saw one or two, and a couple people at battery park. We woke up and cheered by the time we sailed under, and then it was pure excitement!

San Francisco is such a beautiful city with the Sunlight gleaming on it! I think I fell in love with SF at that very moment!

I missed the quiz, as usual behind on everything. I am not sure if you ate enough burgers on your trip

I agree about five guys, you really can't compare it to the others, but you can to a homemade burger. I LOVE them! My gang is split between that and Fatburger.

I had declined a visit to Alcatraz, as prisons creep me out and Jim had already been. His theme of the port was, “There’s Alcatraz. Could go to Alcatraz.” He started this at this moment:

I ran up to the bow and got a spot for a few more pics as we came in.

Yes! It was fun, but I had to check an extra bag just to bring the stuff and get our gifts home. I would have liked to split it up so we could give more to each one - either way it was fun!

Shoot! I was just posting some of the answers when you posted this -

I know maybe we should have one more burger to test some more - I am really bloated - we are down to alot of salads and protein drinks this week!

Yes Caitlin is beautiful! She did some modeling when she was really little -was on some hang tags - thus the pose you see in all the pics!
It was a nice weekend plus for sure!

I think its so neat to be the inagural cruise to pass under the bridge.. how exciting and what a memory!!!you can tell it was early cuz normally the horn gets tons of screams and from your video it sounded like woohoo.. not WAHHH HOOOO lol lol

Loved the pictures. SF was my favourite place we visited last summer. Loved looking at the different houses, all the hills and the trolly . We did a bus tour from our campsite so we saw and learned a lot.

On our first cruise we were upgraded to Deck 1 and thought you have to be kidding right. Turns out we love it there. So all five cruise we have taking we have been on that deck on the Magic. Great for my son to go to the edge one floor up , another floor up your at the lobby. Just can't use the Aft elevators got there and it is scary and quiet..... Oh plus it is easy to get off at the ports just walk to your room.

It was lots of fun to see all the different sites! A tour would be great, because you could learn more of the history.

I think we went Aft on Deck 1 - we were really confused, and we thought we were in a "crew only" area. We kept waiting for someone to stop us.

I love San Francisco too....I got to go there on some business trips back in the late 80's and was able to take some day trips on the weekends across the Golden Gate Bridge to Muir Woods and also to Napa Valley.

Enjoyed your photos and video! I watched the sunrise and us go under the bridge from the comfort of my "verandah simulation area"** in our inside cabin! I just couldn't get out of my jammies and warm bed. I knew I'd see it again on the way out.... (no spoilers here)






**"Verandah simulation area" = flat screen TV turned to the bridge camera, 4 inch fan blowing on you, and white noise machine set to ocean surf.

I love San Francisco too....I got to go there on some business trips back in the late 80's and was able to take some day trips on the weekends across the Golden Gate Bridge to Muir Woods and also to Napa Valley.

I don't think I realized we were making Disney history when I first booked - it was very indeed!

I hope we can go back and visit soon! We didn't do Muir Woods because we have been in the Redwoods near here alot of times - I do want to do Napa Valley sometime with a wine loving friend - not Jim's thing Did you do wine tastings at vinyards?

Thank you Karin! I'm going to write that down. I believe Diane was the daughter who was adopted. The curator at the museum said that the girls had tried to stay totally out of the public eye.

Diane is Walt's biological daughter. His adopted daughter died some time ago of cancer.
They actually have a few "Disney" treasures out there on Diane's estate - you need to know what they are to recognize them though!

We loved it - it is BEAUTIFUL there! And as I said - the wine is very good!
