Hi,
I need advice on buying a one-way airline ticket. Airtran prices fluctuate daily by as much as $300 per ticket. Today, the flight from CAK to MCO is $142, the lowest it has been for a while, but the return is $456.

Should I buy the one-way ticket down and wait for a better price on the return? Has anyone done this? What are the risks?

I think I need to buy the travel insurance. It looks like the insurance is $14.95 per ticket per trip. Which I think means we would pay $14.95 more per ticket b/c we would have to buy the insurance both times, if I buy the one-way tickets.

Anyone?

I buy one way tickets often. (Or pay with miles one way and cash the other). It's not big deal, just more reservation numbers to organize.

I don't know about trip insurance though

This is correct if you buy the insurance through the airline. If you get third party insurance you will not need to pay twice.

I do one way tix all the time, based on cost,as of this moment I have '1/2 ' of a trip booked:rotfl2:

$142 out of CAK is great. I've been watching fares since I bought in Sept for March. It has never been below $157. I'd buy the one way and keep looking for your return.

As for trip insurance, I always get it from a third party and it covers air, hotel, etc.
