One Time Use Point Price Increase

Yep, I just called in this morning, planning to add some OTU points for an Aulani trip. I'm in California and it came to $22.43 per point. (That's $516 plus Transient Tax for a Studio/Pool View). I said never mind to the CM booking for me, I'll see what other options I might have. It was exactly the motivation I needed to take a few minutes looking at other options for Hawaii. I booked another resort (refundable and an ocean view) - and honestly, it's silly to just go to one place in Hawaii repeatedly. I'm NOT bashing Aulani and if my family Really wants to go there, I might book a couple nights there too, but not the whole trip. All over $2 per point sounds silly, but I cannot tell you how many times Disney has bumped me on something Little until I feel compelled to look at other options.

Honestly reasonable, plus there's other islands to explore and even many other resorts to try out on Oahu. That's part of the reason I didn't want to overcommit to Aulani as much as we love it. Who knows if we'll want to do like 5 days at Aulani and then do another 5 on Maui or Kauai at some point. Oahu has given us plenty of food and things to try and we still love it but there's a lot to explore out there.

The equivalent amortization rate of a non-discounted PVB point over its lifetime (assuming Dues rise wtih inflation) to get you to a $22.50 first-year cost is a shade below 4.6%.

That's a very small premium to pay for not having to buy the points and being able to rent them directly from Disney instead. It's a slight premium over private point rental rates, but not by much, and it is super easy. It strikes me as a reasonably fair price.
True - they can be a cheaper, and easier option for a few points upgrade on a trip. But it made me start thinking about if they just bump them a lot (to push AddOn sales) or discontinue them entirely. I already think of DVC as a marginal purchase for so many reasons, OTUP concerns don't help it right now.

Hear, hear!!

Or the Big Island. Definitely need to explore the others!
My goal is to never do a pure AUL trip without visiting at least one other spot. We’ve been there twice since buying into DVC and both times we’ve stayed in HNL on Waikiki Beach and once we stayed at Turtle Bay, which was pretty incredible (but very expensive relative to AUL). Hoping to combine with Big Island or Maui on our next trip (which is TBD).
