There was a virus that affected both guests and crew last fall on several cruise lines including the Magic. DCL cancelled a cruise in order to do a complete cleaning/disinfecting of the ship.

Our cruise (Western) was changed due to Hurricane Lili last fall - we ended up at St. Thomas, Puerto Rico and CC twice. Our seas were calm, skies blue and great weather while the Western ports were hammered by the storm!

DCl will do whatever it takes to keep it's guests and crew safe.

Oh, now that you mention it, I think I remember hearing something about the virus being on the Disney Cruise. I guess I just didn't realize that they cancelled the cruise because of it. Thank goodness, I certainly would have been glad to avoid the ship if it had been infected.

Ok, since you've brought up the infamous virus...

The one thing I wished I'd known before our Dec cruise is:
'honest does not always pay off and to CYA.'

Upon boarding Magic, I did not feel well and decided to rest. I am under drs. care for a stomach condition (which decided to flare up) and take prescription med. When our stateroom hostess came in, she asked why I was not at dinner and I told her 'I did not feel well'. Within minutes I had a nurse at my door ordering me to medical. To make a long story short, I was misdiagnosed with the Norwalk and ordered quarantined to my cabin 72 hrs.! Needless to say, our long awaited 'once in a life time' family reunion we'd planned for two years was ruined.

My complaint was handled by Matt Ouimet, pres.
Sadly to this day, Disney accepts no responsibilty.
It was: so sad, too bad ~ here's 1 cruise voucher ~ case closed.

DCL will do whatever it takes to keep it's guests and crew safe.

So.....Life goes on, I think positive and keep the faith ^i^

If I had to pick ONE thing it would be these message boards. I read them daily (I'm alittle addicted). I have learned so much about the cruise that I did not know on my last two cruises. That's my best tip!

We are drying out here in Florida finally, but the clouds don't look too good for today. I've discovered it doesn't rain in Florida like Minnesota, it Monsoons. Hope you all dry out soon.
