One stateroom or two?

There will be four of us total (husband, MIL, daughter-8, and myself) and we can do a deluxe family stateroom with verandah or we can do a combination of two staterooms (one inside and one with verandah). The cruise we are looking at is a four night Bahamian cruise. My husband thinks we would be fine in one room, but I would like two for ease of sleeping, etc. First time cruise for everyone involved. Thoughts?

Normally, I'd say get two, just because 3 adults plus another body (your child) in one room can be pretty tight.

HOWEVER, the deluxe family oceanview with verandahs (is that what you are looking at?)on the Dream (are you on the Dream?) are quite good sized. And it's only a 4 night cruise.

What's the price difference? That's important.

Thank you. It is a Dream cruise and the difference is just over $300.00

For $300 you can do a nice excursion in port. Or have a really fancy dinner in Remy. Or put a deposit down on a future cruise. I guess it depends on whether $300 is too much for you to "lose" if you book the more expensive option.

It would come down to how comfortable you are sharing a very small room/bathroom with the MIL. I for one would opt for 2 rooms.

How much is that second bathroom? Please don't use the balcony as one.

For $300, I'd spend that in a heartbeat to have a little privacy. I'd even let grandma and kid have the verandah so they can bond and have a really great experience together.

Two rooms. I sail with my parents every time and even though we can fit five in a room I would never do it. I need my space.

Go for two....we are taking five of us in Jan 10 from puerto Rico. Myself, husband, 19 year old grand daughter and my 30 year old disabled daughter and her best friend. We have two staterooms next to each other, each with a window. The thought of all of us in one room was too much for me!

We just sailed a 9 night B2B over Thanksgiving, 4 to a room. It's doable, but not the most convenient. After evening turn down service, the couch is a bed, and the bunk over it, makes it impossible to sit on the couch. Unless you are really short, which I'm not. Sleeping was fine, just no place to sit once they turn down.

We're doing 4 to a room, but that's just my husband and my kids. There is no way I would ever share a cabin with one of my in laws! Those of you who would, I envy your in-law relationships :)
