Do you think one meal reservation a day is enough for mid-aug? I dont want to plan our days too much. I picked one meal a day and made us reservations for that so I will plan to be at those locations during that meal, but I am having trouble thinking about where we'd want to be for the rest of each day. I know some people make full on plans for every day but I cant get it all set in my mind. So my question is this: if I only make one reservation per day does that mean we'll have to eat the other meals at counter places? Is it even possible to get a table at sit down places if you dont have a reservation?

We make one meal a day reservations (except one day we have two) and then we do counter service for our other meals. If you only make one meal a day, does this mean you'll have to eat your others at counter service places? Yes, there is a good chance of that. But you can call the morning of and see if anything opened up at a place you might like to dine. Just know that most of the popular ones were booked at their 180 day mark and it may not be possible to get into them.

We usually do one table service per day and two counter service meals. It's more than filling, and it's nice because you do not feel that you are rushing or missing something to go and eat.

If you do not have an ADR - it's going to be very hard to walk up to a TS location and be seated. There may be some places like - resort restaurants that you can walk up to - but there's no guarantee.

We always go in August and only do one sit-down meal per day and snack throughout the rest of the day. For us it is just to hot to eat many big meals.

For example, we will go to AK where we ahve Donald's safari breakfast scheduled for prior to park opening (8:05am). We will have a big breakfast there, then around lunch time hit up one of the stands near the safari that selss fruit salad, pretzals, etc and get something there. Once we are back at our hotel, we will grab something small at the food court (usually 2 meals (light ones a salad and something) and split between 3 of us)

Just our way of doing things, others may have other opinions

We have gone in August for years and hate planning too much ... we like some level of spontaniety in our vacations. Our most recent trip (June this year) was the most planned to date ... we had one ADR per day and actually felt a little constrained. For example, the day we planned to be at AK (reservations at Tusker House for lunch) was the hottest one during our stay and would love to have felt able to change our minds and hit EPCOT instead (not much indoor stuff at AK). At any rate, in the past we have thrown caution to the wind and made our ADR's from the hotel as we went along ... usually the day before. Now if you have your heart set on a specific restaurant at a specific time or need to do a character breakfast or princess lunch this approach will likely not work, but if you are flexible it might make things feel a little less "regimented". We always got reservations for nice restaurants and always enjoyed our meals!

? #1 If your on the basic DDP then yes
?#2 Yes CS you can always get a table. People are always on the move. Eat & Run.
We do one TS a day an one CS A Day. If your on the Basic DDP. When your on the DPP you need to make three a day.

My rule is only one TS per day. Otherwise you spend too much of your day running to restaurants for your ADR time. On the flip side, one TS per day is nice because it is a simple way to relax for a few minutes, and WDW has some fun options.

The only day I don't make an ADR is arrival and maybe departure days. Sometimes I plan an TS breakfast the last day if we'll have time.

I usually fly to Orlando, so you never know when your flight will be delayed. I also like full freedom on the first day. It's fun to explore the resort, be stress free. I usually don't plan a park that first day, but if I do, it is fun to just hop on the 'first bus that arrives'. A coin toss!

If your first and last day have no ADR's, and you're on DDP, then you can do one Signature dining (double TS credit).

I generally only make one per day at most--and we end up cancelling some of those, even still.

We aren't really there for the restaurants, though---which, to be honest, aren't all that great to begin with.

Normally we only do one TS a day, otherwise you spend you entire trip going from one meal to another. Everything else is counter service or what we can catch on the fly.

just back and had one ts meal a day- with the exception of the day we also hit Sci fi.
It was so stinking hot that we didn't feel like eating all that much so it worked out fine for us. Counter service lunch and then sit down dinner. We stayed concierge so the kids got bagels for breakfast from there and I wasn't hungry then. (TOO HOT) so one was plenty for us.
Have fun.

We are also going mid August and have one reservation per day. We're on the dining plan. The TS meals are so much food that one a day is plenty. Plus, we don't want to spend our entire vacation in restaurants or travelling from one to the other. One a day is perfect, enough food and a nice daily break from the sweltering heat.
