I admit, I love reading trip reports but didn't get on the ball before our 4 day DLR/DCA trip last fall to do one. We're taking another long family trip to DLR/DCA in November 2014, however before that trip we're spending ONE quick day in the parks on October 13th while we're in the LA area for a wedding, so I figured it would be a fun day to chronicle in a beginner's trip report!
The cast:
Me! I'm Katie - a lifelong Disneyland lover. I grew up going to the park when we would visit family in the LA area. They were always day trips, but we always had lots of fun and did as much as we could. As an adult, including our family trip last year, I've been to DLR 4 times. Last year was my first time at DCA, though it was open for 3 of my 4 trips as an adult. My favorite ride is a toss up between Matterhorn and Dumbo, and my favorite Disney treats are chocolate covered bananas and the Mickey marshmallows on a stick. My favorite Disney characters are Pooh, Tink & Merida.
My husband, Scott - last fall was his first trip to DLR/DCA. He's always enjoyed all things Disney, but more the old-school Disney. I think the trip really helped cultivate his love and support me in my Disney habit! His favorite rides were Star Tours, Space Mountain and Screamin'. His favorite characters are Oswald and Pete (I told you, he's old school!).
My daughter, Violet - she will have just turned 5 when we spend our day in the parks this year. As so many little girls do, she loves all things Disney, especially the princesses and Tinkerbell. She received postcards from Rapunzel and Belle via Fairy Godmailers before our trip, so she was psyched to go! She is NOT a fan of dark rides, but will go on Dumbo, the Teacups and Silly Symphony swings long after everyone else has turned green and has to get fresh air! Her favorite character simply depends on the day, but Tink, Merida and Cinderella are always in the running.
My mom - along for the trip to see my daughter be the flower girl in the wedding we're attending. My mom is also a Disney lover. She hasn't been to DLR in 25 years, however she has been to WDW at least 3 times in the past 25 years. Her favorite ride is IASW and she loves Lady from Lady and the Tramp.
In a fun coincidence, my BFF and her family (mom, brother & sister) will also be in the parks the same weekend as us and I couldn't be more thrilled! I only get to see her once a year if I'm lucky, so to spend time with her at DLR (our 2nd time there together) will be a blast!
To be continued...
