One (or Two) weeks in the same place?

I've been reading a number of threads that always seem to say for example "we have 2 nights at BVC then 3 night at OKW then 3 more nights at BWV" or something like that....

I'm not someone who wants to move from resort to resort during my vacation...I like to unpack once and then hit the parks and not worry about it again. :bounce:

My question is: At 11-months out...exactly how hard is it to book one week (or two weeks) in the same place without shuffling around?

I am new, but I have always booked day by day just because I want to make sure I get what I want. I have always (both times I have booked) been able to get what I wanted. I agree, I have moved once while I was there (pre-DVC) and I don't ever plan on doing it again. It was a pain, Disney makes it as easy as possible, they actually do the moving of your luggage for you, but unfortunately they don't pack it.

I think the people who move do it for one of two reasons 1) they actually like to experince two different resorts at the same time. Maybe one by the MK and one by Epcot or 2) they book late.

I called this morning and made 11 night reservations at OKW for the first two weeks of June '03. No problem getting what we wanted. We've been members since '94 and have never had trouble getting the dates we wanted at OKW. Not sure about the other resorts.

We always call as early as possible and stay in one place per trip. We hate moving-since wherever we stay quickly looks like a hurricane hit it, LOL!

We never switch resorts, have always stayed at OKW and I will tell you we have never had a problem getting dates there at 4 and 5 months out.. On our last trip, last month we booked a 2 bedroom at OKW about 2 1/2 months before we were to get there. No problems. It really depends on the time of year you are going. But at 11 months out, at your home resort, you really shouldn't have much of a problem...

If you book 11 months out, you also have the best chance of getting a request fulfilled e.g. which building or area of the resort. We've ended up just where we wanted for our last three stays at OKW.

I think most of those people choose to jump from resort to resort. I would split a 8 or 9 day trip in two.... but nothing more than that. We like swicthing resorts. It makes the vacation seem longer and fuller.

Booking 11 months out you shouldnt have any trouble getting what you want. In high DVC season, you should try to book ASAP and day by day just in case.

We booked 11 months out and got 14 nights at the Boardwalk this October with no problem :D

We usually call at the 11 month window from check out day, and book the whole trip (10-12) at once. We have never had a problem.

I'm not a big fan of switching resorts, but, to each his own.

The one exception was when the DIS had the "Around The World in 30 Days" event. Since I was just moving myself, it was fun. I spent a night at the BWI, WL, Swan, Dolphin, interspersed with nights at our home base, the Fairway Villas.

By the time that my family joined me, I was very happy to settle into our OKW studio.:D

You should have no problem booking at the 11 month mark for two weeks at your home resort except as follows:

1. Grand Villas. Those go fairly quickly and people who want them often do a day by day ressie -- call for first day at exactly 11 months out from that day, then next day call for second day, etc., and then link ressies when done.

2. BWV standard views. They have the lower point cost and thus are in high demand but make up only about 20% of the resort. Calling for a one week stay may be safe (i.e., calling 11 months from date you are scheduled to leave WDW) but if you wait to book an entire two weeks at 11 months from date of departure from WDW you might find that first week you want is already gone.

I agree that I have never had an issue with 11 months out booking. I have booked day by day when I have to for BWV standard view.

I agree with the others at 11 mos out you should have no problem getting your stay except maybe a BWV standard but you could always book the bulk of days and add on the others day by day.
But if you are staying 2 weeks I would switch resorts. We do it all the time and love it. It has given us an opportunity to stay in every WDW resort but 2 and it is fun to experience the different resorts because each has it own flavor and theming that is done down to the smallest detail. I would stay one week at WLV or OKW for the laid back, quieter week and then one week at BWV or BCV for a completely different atmosphere. Disney makes moving very easy for you and a week at each resort is a very nice mix.
