One Ocean re-opens 7th April!

Great news, One Ocean due to re-open on the 7th. It is now showing on the show schedule. I am so pleased as that is the week I am there and the kids were so disappointed at the thought of missing it! Yipee!

What is currently being offered in its place? Is there a whale show?

Shamu Up Close has been going on since One Ocean closed. It takes place in the Dine with Shamu venu. Open all day long and you can walk through and get closer then ever to the whales. Its amazing. Once an hour the trainers do a presentation showing how they train and care for the whales the presentation can be anything from a training session to a play session to excercise and more. My friends and I really enjoy and actually love Shamu Up Close more then one ocean now. You really learn about the amazing animals now and how close you are its amazing.

Do the trainers for Shamu Up Close come out on the hour? We will be there next week and definitely want to see this.

There are pretty much always trainers out doing something or watching them. The presentation that happens usually happens anytime between 30 to 45 mins after the hour. Be sure to ask educators any questions you have and even the trainers are available to talk to if you would like. Trust me. Shamu Up Close is amazing. You will love it

I can not find the info that says that One Ocean will open back up on April 7th. Everything that I have found shows the show starting again on April 10. Could you please tell me where you found the info?? Thanks so much!!!! We are going on April 8th and this is wonderful news.

Ok I finally found where everyone saw that. I was wondering the same thing for the shows on the 8th and 9th. Why skip these 2 days?? I am wondering if the show on the 7th is a mistake??

I am guessing the same thing...but....on the chance that it might be right and they are testing the waters (so to speak) than I don't want to miss that date. We were looking at going either the 7th or the 8th. And if there is a chance than we will just go on the 7th. But I do think you are right and it was a mistake.

Yeah, I don't think they would do shows on the 7th but then stop on the 8th and 9th. It doesn't make sense. They will probably start shows on the 7th and shows will probably be on the 8th and 9th as well.

They are doing rehearsals during that time frame, so it probably depends on how it goes and if they need to rework or tweak anything.

My GS will be thrilled with just that, a rehearsal. We are going on Monday! Thank you everyone!!

We saw the rehearsal twice yesterday (4/5)! Went to the 12 pm and the kids loved it so much they wanted to go back to the 3pm! The 12 pm show was definitely shorter with a couple of parts left out and one of the whales had trouble getting up on the platform.

We had been there on Thursday and saw Up Close. I know folks seem to like it better but we really preferred One Ocean.

Thursday was brutally hot and we were wiped out so we left early and added an extra day to our ticket. Came back yesterday and were so happy to see the rehearsals on the schedule as we were heading back home last night. The trainers said the whales had only been in the pool for the first time on 4/4.
