We are travelling to Orlando IN OCT. with a 10 year old and a couple with a 9 month old. Its seems that all good offers work for people who are staying a min. of 4 nights.. What can we do to get a good deal for one night?

We would only visit the Magic Kingdom, Epcot and perhaps MGM... Don't know whether you recommend a Base Ticket and a budget resort??

HELP!! :badpc:

First off, let me welcome you to the boards. I am sorry that you can't seem to find any onsite hotel room deals for just one night. Disney ususally sells hotel rooms at a discount for multiple nights because the average tourist needs multiple days in order to really see and enjoy all 4 of it's theme parks, it's 2 water parks, and it's Downtown Disney shopping and Pleasure Island entertainment complexes. Magic Kingdom can take a day to see and you will not be able to see and do it all. The park is just too big. The same applies to Epcot, MGM, and Animal Kingdom.

If you are determined to only devote one day of vacation to WDW, you might want to pick just one park and find a hotel offsite. When my partner and I first visited WDW together in 2001, we stayed offsite. We went only to MGM, we saw a pre-season Braves game, and went to Downtown Disney for shopping & saw La Nouba. It made for a great long weekend. Since then, we have graduated to staying onsite and spending 6 to 8 nights at WDW on our vacations.

To help you in determining which park you would like to attend and provide you with a great source of unofficial info on all things WDW, please check out www.allearsnet.com and for savings deals check out www.mousesavers.com and I wish you luck and pixie dust on your trip. Maggie

Check out mousesavers.com or disneyworld.com for discounts on rooms. There is a room only discount available right now so you might be able to save a little on your room. As far as tickets, using the $35 add on for the option to hop from one park to another on a given day makes your ticket pretty expensive.

You should pick one park because it is next to impossible to complete one park fully in a day much less 2 or 3. You would spend a good amount of time going to and from the parks. AAA gives room discounts on site so a budget wounld not be costly and you could get 2 rooms. No way to stay longer? The 10 year old would love it(and you too).

Planning on more than 1 park in a day may end up making everyone miserable, which was surely not the point of your vacation. Agree on a park and enjoy it the best that you can. For just 1 night, I wouldnt waste the $$$$$ of staying onsite. You can do better, and spend the extra cash on treats and souvies :wave2:

I agree with the above posters: stay off-site and only do one park. You won't need a mid-day break with a 10yo, so you won't need to go back to your room. Save some money. And trying to see more than one park in a day will probably be an exercise in frustration--don 't waste your precious little time on transferring from one place to another. instead, pick a park and stay there. Immerse yourself in that one park. Eat one sit-down meal and close the place down. If you get bored (ha!) you can always head over to DTD or Disney Quest.

What time of day are you arriving? If you will only have one full day - ie arriving mid afternoon, spending one night, one full park day and then depart I would recommend:

Arrive, check into onsite hotel or nearby resort with great pool Explore hotel a bit, swim, dress for dinner and

Enjoy a character dinner at one of the resorts like Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary or the Cinderella dinner at Grand Floridian. View fireworks and return to hotel for good night's sleep.

GET UP EARLY and be at the Magic Kingdom at opening. Spend the entire day at the MK, riding rides, seeing shows. Be sure to make an ADR for another character meal for lunch (a great break in the day) or dinner (just prior to departure).

Anyway--that is what I would do!

Go back another time to see the rest.

Please let us know how many days you'll be there -- and will you have the entire day(s) or part of a day. A little more info would be helpful.

Don't really know why others don't like the idea of staying on grounds for one night, but I'm going to recommend it, even for a short trip (especially if you select a value resort). You won't waste time driving back and forth and will get to enjoy the entire Disney experience a little more. Of course, it all depends on your budget.

As mentioned, check Mousesavers for the room-only code to try to get a little discount. There have been many posts that the availability is very limited, but you may be at an advantage, since you only want one night.

Hope you have a great trip!
