One Night Res/Transfer to DVC Question

We are renting a DVC from a DIS member in Feb. 08. However, because the point value is so high for Saturday night, we are doing a Sun-Thurs night res at VWL. When I got to looking at flight times, I realized we wouldn't be getting to the hotel until 6-7 at night. I didn't want to lose all day Sunday, so I talked to my husband and we decided I should looking into booking a cheap room for Saturday night (because we won't do anything but really sleep there). I thought it would work better to be onsite because they would just transfer our luggage (my understanding, please correct me if I am wrong). There will be five of us for the first night-myself, DH and three kids. Do you have any suggestions or recommendations?

With 5 people, the best you could do would be to book one of the trundle rooms at POR (unless booking two value rooms would work out cheaper - depending on whether there are any promotions going on at the time). The value and mod rooms typically hold four, plus one under 3 years old, so if your youngest is under 3, you have more options.

Yes, Disney will transport luggage from one resort to another.

POR would be the way to go if your kids are older than 3. Otherwise just about any space would work for you. You may be a little crowded, but you are only their for one night.

Thank you for the input! As soon as the rates for 2008 come out (hopefully soon) I will check into POR.

If you're flying in, you can always get an inexpensive room near (w/ free shuttle) near the airport. Shuttle over, spend the night, shuttle back and then take DME to VWL. Just pick a flight that lands at MCO the time you want to head over to your resort. You'll have get your luggage when you arrive the night before and take with with you on DME, but that might be a cheaper alternative to 2 rooms value or a moderate.
