One night points, one night cash - any chance of the same room?

We currently have one night booked at POFQ at the end of a DVC stay this summer. I am thinking about changing my POFQ room bc cash discounts are so good (summer bookings must be light).

We are in a one bedroom at OKW on points. If I add a night on cash in the same type of villa, what are the chances I'd be able to stay in my same room? If they're not great, I don't think I'll spring for it, but if my chances are good, it's worth the extra money to stay put rather than move for one night.

Also, would I have a better chance of booking cash through member services or cash via the Disney website? The Disney site is actually a little bit less bc of a PIN code.

If you book through MS, the CM can link the two reservations such that it will appear as one continuous reservation to the resort. While nothing is absolutely guaranteed, this is about as close as you can get. If staying put is more important than the cost, my advice is to book via MS and ask the CM to link the reservations.

If you book the cash night online or via DRC, you will need to request that a note be put on each reservation that cross-references to the other reservation and includes a request to remain in the same room. I'm sure the resort will try to accommodate you, but it will be more difficult for them to do so than it would be if MS books both the cash reservation and links it with the points reservation.

Cash stays are usually ROH (rather than view, location categories with DVC). Since there are significantly less "Near Hospitality House" category villas, chances are your cash stay will be standard, and standard is what you should book on DVC (in addition to asking to have the reservations marked as continuing stay).

Thanks. If we're not going to be moving, I don't care about being near the HH...so I think I will try calling DVC this afternoon and booking that last night via cash, and linking it to the previous night. Maybe they can change my points stay to not near HH.

Thanks everyone! I called member services and got my HH stay changed to non-HH, so that I could add a night on cash in the non-HH area, so I should be all set not to have to change rooms. The MS cast member person I talked to said obviously they will do whatever they can to make sure we stay in the same room, as otherwise it would cost them extra in housekeeping, bell services, etc.

Thanks again! Looking forward to our stay, and to making one fewer room change (we're doing 5 nights at BLT, then 2 nights at OKW, rather than 5 nights at BLT, 1 night at OKW, and then 1 night at POFQ). Yay!

I’m thinking of doing this in August as we have to do one night cash right now we are moving to CB but I’m thinking of staying at Poly and paying cash. It’s just it’s quite a bit more.

I actually like doing one or two nights at a moderate pre or post stay - i like the moderates for a night or two, and it’s fun to stay at a variety of resorts. But since we’re already splitting the DVC portion of our stay, after giving it a lot of thought, I sprung for the extra $ (bc it wasn’t actually that much) to do one more OKW night so as to not move rooms again. We still have one child of napping age, so moving rooms never guarantees she’ll be able to nap.
