"One More Waffle!" An October 2011 TR! *Update 4/24, pg 70-The End!*

Back To Epcot!

Monday 10/3

After we left AK, we were pretty tired, so it was back to WL to rest and shower and all that! Once we both felt energized again, it was off to Epcot! We didn't have any dinner ADR's for the night, we just wanted to enjoy the Food and Wine festival!

It was a beautiful night, the day was hot, but it was starting to cool off, and I was so happy to be going back to my favorite park. If only there would be some Soarin' FP's available...once we got there, I checked, but nope. Too late, it was around 5 when we arrived there, and all the FP's were already gone! :sad1:

So we went to the next best place...Test Track!

P1000651.jpg

It was a 20 minute wait, which isn't bad for TT, so we got in line. There was a guy with his son in front of us, who was maybe 9 or 10, and they saw Brandon's Red Sox hat and they started talking to him about baseball. They talked the entire time we were in line! They were from Chicago, and were Cubs fans, and talked about our GM might go there (which were just rumors at that point, but it actually ended up happening. I'm still not very happy about that...I like the Cubs, but I'm still not sure why Theo isn't our GM anymore...Grrrr...).

Anyway, TT was having technical difficulties, as usual, so it took a lot longer than 20 minutes. And once we were in the car, it stopped...I was glad it didn't stop in one of the rooms with the hot and cold, can you imagine? I would have had a panic attack if that happened!

Once we got going, it was great, as always, but I'm glad this ride is getting an update! It does seem a bit outdated at this point!

After TT we were ready for some Food and Wine! After reading Dugette's TR last year and the infamous Cherry colada, I knew I had to sample the Dragonberry colada at the Caribbean booth this year!

P1000654.jpg

P1000655.jpg

It was good, but not as good as I was hoping. I think I would have liked the cherry one much better, I was wishing they had those this year too! I only drank like, half of it and threw it away. I mean, what is a Dragonberry anyway?

We were hungry, and we both knew we wanted something from the Mexico booth, so we headed that way.

P1000656.jpg

I got the ribeye taco, which was awesome and Brandon got...something else! I didn't take pictures or notes, other than what I got, because I was too busy eating. Quickly.

"Uh, you got some sauce on your shirt"

"Seriously? Whatever, I'll just wipe it off"

I took a napkin and tried wiping the sauce off my shirt and was ready to go, and Brandon said something like "you might want to go in the bathroom and clean it with soap and water" which led to me having a small tantrum. (Yes, I wrote that part in my notes :sad2:)

I don't know why I got so upset, but I had a small freakout about having to go all the way to the bathroom and clean off my shirt. I stomped all the way to Norway to the bathroom like a 5 year old. :rolleyes1 I guess I just didn't feel like taking time out of my food and wining to clean myself up like a civilized person. But I'm glad I did, because now that I look back, it would have left a huge stain. And I was wearing a Disney shirt. ::MinnieMo

Once I regained my sanity after that little meltdown, we went over to Maelstrom

P1000658.jpg

Woo hoo, 10 minute wait! I love this ride SOOOO much! I would probably say it's one of my favorites in all of Disney. I just hope there never comes a day when I have to actually get a FP for it! :rotfl:

After Maelstrom, we of course, found ourselves in Germany, which seems to be Brandon's favorite place in the World Showcase because of the beer, so we stopped there for a little while!

P1000661.jpg

Brandon got his beer and I went in Karmelle Kuche and of course, as always, couldn't decide. :confused3 I then remember Pirate Kate and her Chewy Caramel Bars and decided to get one. I'm SO glad I did, because it's probably one of the best things I've ever eaten!

P1000663.jpg

(Sorry, I already took a bite out of it!)

We sat on a curb and I ate my caramel bar and Brandon drank his beer

P1000664.jpg

and I asked Brandon if he wanted a piece. He tried it and liked it but was more interested in his beer.

After sitting for a few minutes, we were ready to move on. We looked at the little town with the train and saw that it was ready for the Food and Wine festival too!

P1000665.jpg

I love how the little town is always themed to what is going on in Epcot at the moment, it's such a cute detail!

We went to Italy after, where I had to get the ravioli again

P1000669.jpg

Yum! I don't know what it is about that ravioli but I could live off of it! We found a bench near the water so I could eat quickly, and the view across the lake was beautiful...my favorite time at Disney again, right before the sun starts going down!

P1000672.jpg

I finished my fantastic ravioli and we moved on to America, where the Hops and Barley booth is located, and another one of our favorites!

P1000673.jpg

We both got beer and Brandon got a lobster roll, which was so ridiculously tiny! We knew that from the year before, but still, I can't believe how small it is!

I of course, had to get a small Cherry Wheat, which is my favorite beer in the entire world! :lovestruc

P1000681.jpg

As you can see, we already walked over to Japan, where we finished up our beers and went into our new favorite store, Mitsukoshi! I love that store so much! I went into the back section this time, where I couldn't go on our first night because of my migraine (the incense smell would have made my headache SO much worse!) and found these:

P1000683.jpg

Cherry blossom branches that I think lit up! They were so beautiful, I wanted to buy them, but then I wondered what I would do with them...so I just stood and admired them for a little while. I love cherry blossoms, I think they are so pretty, if I ever get a tattoo someday, a cherry blossom is going to have to be part of it! :)

We left Mitsukoshi and went back to the booths, there was still so much more food and wining to do! :cool1:

Up next...more food and wine and Illuminations!

Mmm, F&W booths.

I almost died laughing about your meltdown, because I had a vision in my mind about how it must have looked. Disney can make us do the strangest things sometimes. :lmao:

I loved the ravioli too! Some people weren't big fans, but I thought it was really good.

In case you were curious about Dragon Berry, I found this online:

Having run out of common fruit flavors to add to their rums, Bacardi has rummaged around the tropical produce bins to find their latest offering: Dragon Berry. The product combines the flavor of a dragon fruit with that of a strawberry.
Dragon fruit, which is the fruit of a cactus has magenta skin with lime-green spines, according to “Melissa’s Great Book of Produce” by Cathy Thomas. “It tastes like a marriage between a kiwi and a pineapple,” she writes.

I'm sorry, I laughed SO hard at the visual of you stomping off to Norway to clean your shirt. I totally get being all annoyed about the silliest thing!

I don't know what a dragonberry is, but I'm disappointed that it isn't as awesome as the name implies it should be!!

Jen - I did get stuck in the "cold" room once on TT. I started to freak but realized that the thermometer only said -13 (or whatever it is). It was chilly but it was seriously not even close to being that cold. I was in shorts and a T. It just felt like being in cold AC.

I would also like to know what a dragonberry is.

I have to agree with Brandon that beer and caramel just don't mix.

I can't wait until F&W this year! :woohoo:

Aww, I'm sorry about the shirt incident, but I have to admit that I LOL'd at your story. At least it made for a good one!

That ravioli looks so yummy! :thumbsup2

That is a great shot of SSE as the sun started setting. :thumbsup2

I'm kind of bummed the line was so long for the ravioli when we were there but oh well. Glad you enjoyed it!

Everyone keeps talking about those caramel bars. This trip I have got to actually buy something from there...especially since we'll be at the Boardwalk...no excuses for not going to Epcot a lot! LOL.

And I can't remember if I already said something, but YAY for deciding on your next trip!

Everything looks AMAZING! I have to go to The F and W festival! Loved the story about the stain. I get butt- hurt about the strangest things. I was SO mad that the Plaza didn't have a bathroom and I had to walk all the way to Tomorrowland!

I was SO mad that the Plaza didn't have a bathroom and I had to walk all the way to Tomorrowland!

:confused3 There's one just to the right after the Plaza. Unless it was closed when you went, there's a bathroom right between the Plaza and the noodle station. *walking map of MK*

You and I follow the same mindset... I think I would've bought way too many of those raviolis at the F&W festival. I don't know what it is about pasta, sauce, and cheese, but it makes that dish wonderful.

Maelstorm is such an awesome ride. I'm like you, it's one of my absolute favorites in all of Walt Disney World. What makes it even better is the fact that it's normally never busy. :thumbsup2

I could probably spend all day at AK now if we didn't have any plans at night! I wish they would bring back evening magic hours there, I really want to do EE at night!

Ugh, I don't like any of the AK PP pics we got that day! That was seriously the best one out of like, 5! We even did a Tink magic shot and it was awful! :rotfl2:

OMG EE at night was SO INTENSE!! I'm so bummed they aren't doing PM EMH anymore! It was so nice there at night!

I always had the same problem you do...I felt like I looked AWFUL in every picture. I realized though, that I would panic before the picture was taken because I was paranoid about how it would come out...So in a weird way, my fear of taking bad pictures, would CAUSE bad pictures! Does that make sense? I've learned to just relax and try not to "pose" too much. They come out a LOT better! And if the CM tells you to pose, go with it! If you act all nervous and feel stupid, it will show in your pics!

And great update, BTW! I loved both the Dragonberry and the Torched Cherry Coladas! I wish they both at the same time and I'd get one (or 23) of each!

Woo hoo, I got mentioned in a TR! :cool1: I really wish they had kept the Torched Cherry Colada from the previous year. I'm a much bigger fan of cherry than "dragonberry". (Thanks for the explanation, Danielle, I thought it was just strawberry!) I will say that we still had a couple of these on our last trip and enjoyed them, though. Just not as much as the cherry. But they were still cool and refreshing.

Sounds like you hit some good stuff at F&W. And the caramel shop! :thumbsup2 I haven't tried that bar, but pretty much everything there is delicious, so I'm sure it was great.

That's funny that you hope to never have to FP Maelstrom. I feel like we always FP it, because the FP return time is almost always sooner than the standby time when we get there. I never understand the people waiting in a 40 minute line when the FP are good in 30. :confused3 I guess we must hit it at busy times.

Looking forward to hearing more about your night...sounds nice so far!

I LOVE Karmel Kuche!!! Everything looks so yummy I spend so much time trying to decide!!! LOL

My husband always razzes me about the fact that I can chat up a conversation and make friends with anyone- especially in line of a ride haha :)

I definitely want to go back during F&W again someday because all pictures of the food and drinks make my mouth water! :D

Oh no on all the Soarin' FPs being distributed :sad2: At least you were still at your favourite park though :thumbsup2

I'm glad you enjoyed the F&W booths and were pleased that you went to the bathroom to clean your shirt in the end!

That chewy caramel bar looks good - it is soo hard to make a decision in Karamelle Kuche on what to get. If only I could have one of everything! :rotfl:

Back To Epcot!

I got the ribeye taco, which was awesome and Brandon got...something else! I didn't take pictures or notes, other than what I got, because I was too busy eating. Quickly.

Once I regained my sanity after that little meltdown, we went over to Maelstrom

haha, this sounds soooo much like something that Joyce and I would do! I can picture it in my head like we were there!

haha, this sounds soooo much like something that Joyce and I would do! I can picture it in my head like we were there!

Ben, I was thinking the same thing!

That ravioli looks amazing. I am dying waiting for F&W in October... how am I going to make it 8 more months??

I'm so glad you guys had such a good time at AK! It's always my last choice of all the parks, then we get there; and I'm like, why don't we come here more? Your pretzel looked yummy...I'm adding it to my Disney food bucket list!

It's not strange to have a Disney food bucket list, is it? :lmao:

I haven't been to food and wine for a couple of years, but your food descriptions and photos have me thinking it's time to go back!

I'm with you on TT...thank goodness for a much-needed update. We got stuck on it in the cold room once. Only for about 30 seconds, but still!!!

Mmm, F&W booths.

I almost died laughing about your meltdown, because I had a vision in my mind about how it must have looked. Disney can make us do the strangest things sometimes. :lmao:

Haha, I'm sure I looked really classy, stomping across the WS! :rotfl:

I saw some people say the ravioli tasted like Chef Boyardee but...I like Chef Boyardee stuff, so I can't complain!

Well that explains why I didn't like the dragonberry very much! Hopefully they will have cherry this year!

I'm sorry, I laughed SO hard at the visual of you stomping off to Norway to clean your shirt. I totally get being all annoyed about the silliest thing!

I don't know what a dragonberry is, but I'm disappointed that it isn't as awesome as the name implies it should be!!

Haha, sometimes I wonder if I should put stuff like that in my TR's, I wonder if it makes me sound like a jerk! But I figure other DIS'ers get it, no one wants to take time out of having fun at Disney to clean up!

It does sound like a dragonberry should be good, but it was just weird! :confused3

Jen - I did get stuck in the "cold" room once on TT. I started to freak but realized that the thermometer only said -13 (or whatever it is). It was chilly but it was seriously not even close to being that cold. I was in shorts and a T. It just felt like being in cold AC.

I have to agree with Brandon that beer and caramel just don't mix.

I can't wait until F&W this year! :woohoo:

Haha, that's good to know! I still don't want to get stuck in that cold room, though! Although, the hot room would be worse!

Yeah, I suppose beer and caramel don't really mix...but he could have been a little more excited about my caramel chewy bar!

I can't wait til F&W either! And I'm only going for the first 3 days! :sad2:

Aww, I'm sorry about the shirt incident, but I have to admit that I LOL'd at your story. At least it made for a good one!

That ravioli looks so yummy! :thumbsup2

Looking back, I can't believe I acted that way, but it just really annoyed me at the moment! Next time I'll have to remember to act like an adult!

The ravioli is soooo good! It's one of my favorite things from F&W!

Thank you! Epcot is so pretty at dusk!

Mmm I love that ravioli, I'd wait a half an hour just to get one! :rotfl:

You have to get something from the caramel place, everything I've had is so good! The popcorn is especially amazing! It melts in your mouth!

Thanks! I'm so excited about our next trip! We're already under 8 months! :thumbsup2

Everything looks AMAZING! I have to go to The F and W festival! Loved the story about the stain. I get butt- hurt about the strangest things. I was SO mad that the Plaza didn't have a bathroom and I had to walk all the way to Tomorrowland!

The Food and Wine festival is so much fun! I was thinking of going on our trip early in September this year, to be there for my birthday, but...I have to be there for Food and Wine, even if it is only the first few days, which is why we're going at the end of the month! I might even change it to the first week of October, so we're there the whole week, but I'm not sure! You should definitely go someday!

:thumbsup2

I did get that ravioli a few times! I always say I want to try new things at Food and Wine, but I end up sticking with my favorites! :thumbsup2

I LOVE Maelstrom! I wish I could go on it over and over! I heard the soundtrack on DIS radio the other day and I just about died of happiness!

OMG EE at night was SO INTENSE!! I'm so bummed they aren't doing PM EMH anymore! It was so nice there at night!

I always had the same problem you do...I felt like I looked AWFUL in every picture. I know I can't believe they aren't doing night EMH anymore, it's annoying! They must be open pretty late in July, though, right?

I try not to pose too much in my pictures, or think about how I look, the only thing I try to do is smile normal! Neither Brandon or I can smile like normal people in pictures! Did you ever see that Friends where Chandler and Monica are taking their engagement pictures and Chandler can't smile? That's us!

I really hope they have the cherry colada this year! Or something new, but I can do without the dragonberry! :rotfl2:

Woo hoo, I got mentioned in a TR! :cool1: I really wish they had kept the Torched Cherry Colada from the previous year. I'm a much bigger fan of cherry than "dragonberry". (Thanks for the explanation, Danielle, I thought it was just strawberry!) I will say that we still had a couple of these on our last trip and enjoyed them, though. Just not as much as the cherry. Looking forward to hearing more about your night...sounds nice so far!

Haha, your TR from last year is the whole reason I got that dragonberry colada! It was good, but I'm guessing I would have liked cherry much better!

I love the caramel shop, I have to get something from there every trip now! It's just so hard to decide what to get!

I hardly ever see Malestrom busy! I mean, once in a while it will hit 20 minutes, and to us that is a long wait for that ride, but it's usually pretty empty! :thumbsup2

It's so hard decided what to get in the caramel shop! Someday I really want one of those ridiculous cupcakes! :thumbsup2

Haha, I do the same thing to Brandon, he can talk to anyone! And I just stand there like some quiet little mouse! :sad2: Although, these people in the TT line were really nice, they talked to me too, so it wasn't that awkward!

F&W is probably my favorite time to go to WDW. I really wish we could go in November this year to combine it with Christmas decorations, but those stupid AP's have to expire. Maybe next year.

:rotfl:

I can't believe how quickly Soarin' FP's go! They're almost as hard to get as TSM!

I love Food and Wine, it's such a fun time to be at Epcot! I wish I lived in FL, I'd go every weekend!

Someone should make a checklist of everything in Karamel Kuche so you can just go down the list and check off things one by one as you eat them, so you can try everything! Maybe I'll do that! :rotfl:

haha, this sounds soooo much like something that Joyce and I would do! I can picture it in my head like we were there!

Ben, I was thinking the same thing!

That ravioli looks amazing. I am dying waiting for F&W in October... how am I going to make it 8 more months??

Haha, you guys remind me so much of Brandon and I! I wish we were going later in October so we could all meet up, because I think we would really get along! :thumbsup2

I don't know how you're going to make it another 8 months...because I don't know how I'm going to make it 8 more months! :scared1: I was so depressed about it last night, I almost booked a solo trip for myself. I'm trying to get one of my friends to go for a long weekend in May for Star Wars weekends, because I really don't think I'll make it til September!! :upsidedow

I'm so glad you guys had such a good time at AK! It's always my last choice of all the parks, then we get there; and I'm like, why don't we come here more? Your pretzel looked yummy...I'm adding it to my Disney food bucket list!

I'm with you on TT...thank goodness for a much-needed update. We got stuck on it in the cold room once. Only for about 30 seconds, but still!!!

Definitely not strange to have a Disney food bucket list, I have one too! :thumbsup2

I can't believe you live so close and you haven't been to Food and Wine for a few years! :scared1: I'd go all the time if I was an hour away!

I can't wait to try the new TT, it should be a lot of fun!

Mmmm...Godiva Chocolate Iced Coffee

Monday 10/3

We left Mitsukoshi, but didn't get very far, because Brandon wanted to go to the Japan F&W booth. He's obsessed with sushi, so he was hoping they would have something good, and ended up with this weird tuna in a cup thing-I guess it's officially called "Tuna and Salmon Sensation" but to me, it's tuna in a cup:

P1000684.jpg

P1000686.jpg

I don't remember if he liked it, I guess he did because he ate it all, but I kind of wasn't paying attention, it looked a little gross to me. I like sushi a little, but it has to have lots of rice and lots of soy sauce to dip it in. Which basically means I like rice with soy sauce.

Next up was one of my favorites, the Belgium booth!

P1000689.jpg

This is where I heard the CM's yelling "one more waffle" for the first time! They really got excited when people ordered waffles, I thought that was so cute!

They had a few tables set up over to the side of the booth, so I went over and grabbed one while Brandon ordered our goodies for us.

We got:

P1000690.jpg

Steamed Mussels with Roasted Garlic Cream & Baguette, MY Godiva Chocolate iced coffee and some kind of beer in the background. Brandon loved those mussels from the year before so he was excited to get them again, and I was really happy to have my Godiva iced coffee again. It is SO good! I remember telling Brandon that I would drink 10 of them if they didn't cost $7.50! I mean, do you see how small that cup is? And half of it is ice, so it's kind of expensive for basically a shot of Godiva mixed with iced coffee. Still. It's really, really good! :cool1:

For some reason, Brandon and I separated for a little while after Belgium, I don't remember why, maybe he wanted to go get something at a booth that we passed, but I ended up in France by myself for a few minutes. I remembered MEK telling me to play around with my camera settings while taking pictures of fountains before my trip, so I found a nice spot near the fountains in France (which were finally on!) and took lots of pictures with many different settings! Here are a few:

P1000691.jpg

P1000693.jpg

P1000695.jpg

P1000697.jpg

P1000698.jpg

The last one is my favorite, but I'm still not sure of the settings on my camera! :rotfl: I really have to save up and get a real camera this year and learn how to use it!

It was getting later and my wonderful pre-Illuminations music was starting, so we decided to just find a spot and settle. We found a pretty ok spot near the fence in France and sat and just listened to my favorite Disney music. I know I talk about this music in ever TR. But it is seriously the BEST music in all of Disney, there is nothing better to me than listening to the pre-Illuminations music, being in the World Showcase, waiting for Illuminations to start!

(OK, so I've been trying to put up a link to one of the songs on You Tube for you guys to enjoy, but for some reason it's not working today! :sad2:)

After a little while, the torches were lit

P1000699.jpg

and it was time for Illuminations!

As you can see, our view wasn't the best, but I've seen it so many times that I don't always have to have the greatest view, as long as I can hear the music and see most of it, I'm good! I didn't take many pictures that night anyway, I just wanted to enjoy it!

P1000703.jpg

P1000707.jpg

P1000708.jpg

As always, Illuminations was fantastic, and of course, I cried! I love Wishes, but there is just something about Illuminations, I have to see it multiple times on each trip! :)

My feet hurt SO bad that night, and I was ready to get back to WL and rest, but for some reason, we took the long way around the World Showcase to leave! :rotfl: It was only day 5 of our trip, and my feet felt like they were about to shatter!

We made it to Future World after what seemed like the longest walk ever, and I took this picture, because I liked the reflection in the water:

P1000711.jpg

As much as my feet were hurting and I was ready to lay in bed, I still didn't want our Epcot night to be over just yet, so I found a few reasons to stay...oh wait, I have to get a picture of Spaceship Earth:

P1000713.jpg

Oh wait, we HAVE to go in Mouse Gear again!

P1000715.jpg

I ended up buying another Vinylmation and finally, we were ready to go back to the WL!

We assumed we would be back in no time, since it's such a short drive from Epcot to the MK area, but right outside of the MK gates, there was traffic! :scared1: Have you ever seen traffic in WDW? It doesn't happen! But we were stuck there, not moving, for at least a half an hour. It turns out either a truck or van crashed and caught on fire, so we had to wait for that to get cleaned up!

I opened my Vinyl in the car, and it was Aladdin, but for some reason, I didn't take a picture of him! I was happy to get him, because I love Aladdin, but I think I traded him away sooner or later!

We eventually got through the traffic and returned to the WL, and I somehow made it up to our room. I was happy the next day was a rest day, I needed to recover from the first 5 days a little!

Up next...change of ADR plans!

Your tuna in a cup had me :rotfl: for some reason. I must have a massive case of the sillies this morning or something! Good job on the fountain pictures...I got a "real" camera for Christmas and learning to use it is like taking Calculus or Physics or some other really hard college-level class. I'm starting to get some decent photos though, so it must be sinking in. I hope you get yours soon!
