Hi guys! Sorry, I KNOW this has been talked to death...but we are in major panic mode and I can't find any of the threads about it.

I know when you are on the DDP or DxDP you are not supposed to share meals with your kids. But I have read posts about some servers allowing it. So here's my question: Have you been to the world recently and been allowed to share meals. For example, there will be four adults and two kids. If we are at a TS restaurant, will we be able to get 4 apps, 4 entrees, and 4 desserts and NOT use the kids' meal credits???

TIA!

If you and your kids are on the same reservation and you have all paid for the dining plan, you can share meals with your kids. You may not share dining plan meals with persons who are not on your reservation and did not pay for the dining plan.

If you have four adults on your reservation you may order four adult meals. (You'll only get the appetizers if you're on the deluxe plan.) They won't say you have to order kids' meals. Don't know what you plan to do with the kids' credits though. Kid's credits can be used only to order children's menu meals.

You won't be permitted to share at buffets or all you can eat family style, fixed price meals - unless it's with a child under age 3.

Thanks!

Okay so your post created one more question: Can the four adults share 3 apps and 3 entrees? We are on the deluxe.

Oh, and we are eating at a couple places that use 2 credits:) That's why I would try to save one or two for later.

Are the adults on the same dining plan?

If they're on the same plan and paying the same price, then if the restaurant permits sharing (and I have heard that most if not all of them do) they can share dining plan meals.

What WDW says is that you cannot share dining plan meals with anyone who isn't on the dining plan with you.

Still not sure what good it will do to save up the kids' credits for signature restaurants and spend the adults' credits, as the kids' credits can be used only to buy kids' meals.

Fabulous! Your info helps a lot -- we're just thinking of using those kids credits instead of paying OOP for the (kids) meals we have to make up from the signature meals...at this point every dollar helps!:thumbsup2

What I posted is based on what has been reported so far. WDW could of course change its mind, as could individual restaurants, about who can share plates. Can't tell when your trip is.

We leave in 3 days!!! That's why we were in panic mode...things happened and we were trying to convince ourselves we made the right choices.

Can you save your kids and use them for adult meals later at TS! I didn't think you could!!!:confused3

nope.
from what I understand they caught on to that and now your card will hold "kids meal credits" and "adult meal credits"

No. But that's not what the OP intends to do. I think. Sometimes they will use three adult credits to feed four adults. But the purpose of not using the child credits isn't clear, unless she means she's saving those for Signature Dining for the children.

Yes the OP plans on using the child credits on Signature Dining so that they do not have to pay OOP for meals.

Thank you!

That is a completely legitimate and acceptable way to use Dining Plan credits.

Some people say the DDP provides too much food; a rare few claim it does not offer enough; and others feel it provides exactly the right amount of food.

While you cannot share your dining entitlements with Guests not participating in the Dining Plan, you absolutely CAN, as stated above, share DDP-"purchased" food with other persons on your reservation.
