I have to wear a knee brace while at Disney next week. It goes from my hip to just below my knee.

Will I have trouble driving the scooter? I can't bend that leg, so will I be ok to rest it in the front wheel?

I am really nervous of how I will be driving a scooter and any help of how it is to drive one would be welcomed!!!

With that situation you are probably better off with a four wheel ECV, which is what Disney rents out. Most of the off-site vendor rent three-wheel ECVs, but they may also have four-wheel available.

The only potential problem I can see is that you will have to be very careful as it is possible you may have your foot actually out in front of the frame of the ECV.

Driving an ECV is very easy. There is a tiller with a handlebar on top, just as on a tricycle, which you turn in the direction you want to move. There is a lever about where your thumbs will go, pressing it has the ECV move, releasing it puts on the brakes. On many ECVs pushing the lever on the right side is forward and on the left side is reverse. On the Disney ECVs there is a forward/reverse switch and pushing the throttle lever in either direction will have it move in the direction the switch is set.

Cheshire figment, I so appreciate your answers!!! You have really helped to put my mind at ease. Thank you for exposing how to drive the ECV.. I hope I figure it out quickly.

Cheshire figment, I am here in the parks on my ECV (driving if like pro now ). You really helped ease my nerves before the trip and I really wanted to thank you for that!! It is so much easier to drive one than I ever could have thought! Hope I get to run into you to thank you in person!!
