Hey everybody,

Today on Facebook I saw an ad for a comming announcement from Disney Parks. It was called "One More Day". There was a video talking about, more time and more memories, stuff like that. It said the announcement was comming on 12/31/2011

Does anyone have any inside info on this or any clue just what it might be? Maybe something they have done in the past?

I'm wondering if it's a toned down version of the buy 3 get 2 free. Maybe something like during the year, whatever length of pass you buy, you get one more day free or something like that.

Anyway, just wondering if anyone has any info or if you think my guess may be accurate.

I'm wondering if it has something to do with Leap Year, since we get an extra day this year... :confused3

As I posted on another thread:
Here is my theory. It is a play on words. 2012 is leap year, thus giving us "One more Disney day". I think that Disneyland and Magic Kingdom will be open for 24 hours on 2/29. Well longer acctualy. It think both parks will open whenever they do on 2/29 and won't close till the evening on 3/1. That's my theory.

Now I think 24 hour party is the launch of something else. To continue my play on words theory, everything after 2/29 is a "extra" day. So I think that 2/29 is the launch day for something, starting with the 24 hour openings.

The announcement will be made during the Dick Clark's Rocking New Years Eve show. The website you can sign up to get the info sent to your email is: onemoredisneyday.com

I question keeping the parks open all night(this promotion/event is also at WDW), because they can't prep it for the next day as they do normally.

Plus a lot of hype for a single day.

And the 29th is on a Wednesday... Just kind of weird. I mean I get staying open late, but ALLL night? What's the 4AM crowd gonna look like? It would be awesome for the people that can actually go, I'm sure it would be dead! Now I'm curious.

Actually, if my work schedule stays as-is, I have Thursdays off, so I could drive up that day and stay alllllll ni.... oh who am I kidding...I'm in bed my 9 every night!

I'm sure at worst it could be like a MM crowd, if they limit it to 2 lands. Even though it's a special day for a special event, Wednesday at the end of Feb, beginning of March equlas one of the slowest days of the year to begin with. Spreading out the expected small number of people midweek, in the middle of the night over one park of both, would be creating a ghost town.

Hey, who knows, maybe it will be a hit and they'll be open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year! Coming back from the bar and craving greasy food? Stop in for a 3 AM corn dog!

:rotfl2: Yes I could see finishing a night after the bar in the parks.

I have seen a few CMs confirm that the park will be open 24hrs on the 29th. Though no details to if that mean DL, DCA, both, or what will be open. Though I don't know if their word is enough to accept, or if it's an internal rumor.

Regarding the bolded part... seriously? Disney? Let's remember we are talking about Disney fans. Pin traders who line up for hours. Visitors who wait at parking garages for hours. Guests who line up for Star Tours for hours.

If this is what it is, I think it would be PACKED!

"I spent 24 hours inside Disneyland and never left!" It's a Disney fanatics dream come true!

Then mix in people who only get their actual birthday once every four years? I don't think they would be too hesitant to miss work the next day to have an incredible birthday to remember.

Hmm... that brings me to one other possibility: Get in free if you're born on Leap Day. :confused3

I don't know the answer, DisneyMax74, but I just wanted to tell you that my first guess was along the lines of what your guess was. I just assumed it would be another promotion of being able to get some kind of a free park day during the year, as we have seen in the past.

So, just like what you said, I figured this would mean that whatever ticket or Hopper someone buys, Disney will automatically add another day to it, for free. And the AP holders could get "one more Disney day" added on to their AP's. Something like that.

Whatever it is, I think it will be something that lasts the whole year and not just a February 29th-only thing. I think Disney will say it's "in honor of Leap Year" that they are giving us an extra day added on to existing tickets.

Or...this could simply be a rehashing of one of the old promotions, like Give a Day/Get a Day, or the Get in Free on Your Birthday thing.

In any case, we will know for sure when New Year's Rockin' Eve airs on 12/31. Just a few more days of suspense!:cool1::banana:

Here is my guess: One More Day will be the new promo for 2012. I think they will do what previous posters have suggested maybe a 24 hour park night on the 29th and an additional add on day for park tickets. They mention on the website that you can reminisce about the "Let the Memories begin.." promo. So, I think they are introducing the new promo for the year. :confused3 I am hoping for an extra day for each park hopper!! That would be awesome!! :goodvibes

I agree, that would be awesome. That's what I'm hoping for. :)

I think they had Disneyland open for 24 hours before...maybe when Captain EO premiered the first time?

I've read enough rumors I'm starting to believe the open for 24 hours on 2/29...even though that's really a weird thing to do, IMO. :confused3

We are already, though, right? That's why my AP started on a Tuesday (May 17, 2011) and ends on a Thursday (it would end on a Wednesday on a non-leap year). So, I'm getting the extra day there already - which I'm pretty stoked about as I plan to be in the parks on that last day!

Very true!

I'm just running different scenarios around. I have no clue. It could easily just be rehashing of the birthday promo or the GAD/GAD promo, but with the new title for 2012!

Maybe exactly what you said, starshine514, is what prompted Disney to do a promo for 2012. Maybe they realized, "Hey, those AP holders are all getting an extra day out their AP's in 2012 - we need to do something for the one-day ticket & Hopper-buyers as well." And, hence, they came up with a "One More Disney Day" promo in which they will automatically stick on an extra day to any ticket or Hopper.:confused3

Whatever it is that Disney is cooking up, it will surely work to their advantage in getting masses of people to descend upon DCA next year to see all the results of the billion dollar makeover (not that they would have had trouble getting people to show up anyway - but this new promo will increase business even more).

There were 72 hour parties for both the opening of Captain EO and Star Tours. I was at both! Great fun - I remember sitting in line with my kids at 4am for Capt EO since it was the shortest the line had been - and trying to sneak a nap on the train, but they were onto that trick! We did go home a couple of times for naps, but it was fun being there at sunrise. Think it was from friday 9am or so till sunday nite.

I'd be surprised if they do a BOGO type free day the year they're opening a new land for the first time since DCA opened.

I cant wait to find out. Were flying in on the 29th and I would love it if all the night time shows were going.
