One lens

If I was restricted to one lens for WDW, it would be a 24-70 f2.8. A 35mm would not work well for stage shows, the Safari or anywhere else that I would need extra length. It could get a little tight for character meals, but I have made my 28-70 f2.8 work. Its not the best lens for everything, but will work the best for most. The 2.8 gives enough lowlight (depending on your camera body) to cover many situations, including some of the lower light rides. Again, this recommendation is only if I was forced to carry one lens!

+1. But would also sneak a fast prime in the bag! Lol. I know that's cheating.

Where can you rent lenses?

There are a few but I always rent from borrowlenses.com I got the recommendation on the dis when I went on my med cruise and have used them a few times with a lot of success.

I am an avid reader of the disney photography blog and he almost always uses the 17-40 f4 but on a full frame of course.

I'm actually using the 24-70 mm 2.8 on a crop and don't miss the wider range at all. But I also have the 17-55 mm 2.8 for years to compare Nd for me it was not a loss.

On my 7D (crop) there were more situations where I needed the length of the 24-70 f/2.8 more than the width of the 17-55 f/2.8 (I had both at the same time).

Both are very good lenses but the 17-55 has IS which helps in low light with stationary subjects. I got rid of the 17-55 after adding a full frame body to my collection (I want all of my lenses to be usable on both crop and FF bodies).

Last year for my DCL Med cruise I rented a Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II USM and fell in love. I mean in lurrrve with this lens. If I could afford it I would own it. So thinking about renting it again. However, I am not 100% sure that this would be the best option for the parks and all of the events I am going to. Plus I like low light shots too, and this is ok in low light

I totally agree, I rented that very same lens, but for the parks, and I am crazy about it, I've been saving up for months for it, and I'll likely be renting it for my next trip (won't have enough for a purchase by then sadly) because it really is that great!

That said, as I mentioned above, I rented it for the parks and it was phenomenal, so I would say go for it.

Here are some shots I got with that lens, including some ones in the dark Mission: SPACE Orange team queue, it does handle it quite nicely I thought!

exactly the same as me. having that extra length is great vs throwing my 85mm on if i needed the length.

i want to get rid of my 17-55mm now also. it's just sitting around.
