My boyfriend and I will be staying at Disney's Beach Club this week. His key will be available for charging and mine will not. For this reason we are wondering if we would both be able to receive wristbands and gain access to Stormalong Bay on my card. Because we are a couple and are obviously staying at the same resort I don't think that there should be much question. I expect most of you to encourage us to bring both cards, but have any of you experienced success in getting in with only one KTTW card. Also, just curious to how the CMs know that we are staying at BC. Are the keys a different color?

I have tried it twice in the past completely on accident, on 2 different trips, and we had to go back to the room and get either my son's or wife's KTTW.

I don't think having charging privileges are related to SAB admittance. Anyone staying at BC (as long as they meet the age requirements) can play in SAB. I haven't stayed there in a while, but from what I've read, each person will need to have their own KKTW card with them.

We had 7 in our group last year and had to have 7 key cards. Think of it as a way of ensuring no one is allowing friends to pool-hop or paying for one room and everyone brings a local buddy to play. Also, I believe one of the numbers on it indicates if you are staying at YC/BC/ or BCV, but I could be wrong. And the dates of stay are plainly on each one.

I am curious how they will check for verification when everything goes to the magic wristband - aren't those supposed to replace KTTW cards among other things?

Our experience (10 yrs) has been that everyone needs their key to enter. Having or not having charging doesn't matter. HTH:)

My kids didn't have charging privileges last year, but they each had their own KTTW. I would assume that the same would be true for you and your boyfriend. You'll have a KTTW card, but it just won't have any charging privileges. If you don't have a KTTW card, you won't be allowed in SAB.

Just back 3 weeks ago...2 adults, 2 kids...we had to have all 4 cards for us to enter and get wristbands.

It will probably be encoded. Wanna bet they put up a mickey head reader?

They first 4 numbers on the card indicate where you are staying. They all begin 99 but the next 2 are different.

I think the point the OP was making about the charging is that they'd rather carry a card without privileges so if they want to leave it at their seats, nobody could pick it up and use it.

We've always had to show all cards for our party at SAB.

I own at BCV and we always have to show all cards, even for the young children. My husband once forgot our granddaughter's card and they had to go back to the room and get it.

That is probably true.

I do have some great visions of someone going to the top of their slide and the Mickey reader seeing their non-YC/BC bracelet and a gate coming up preventing access. ;-)
