One hour limit @ 1900 Park Fare

I wonder if your server had an urgent need for a larger than usual cash flow and was hoping to turn tables over quickly. It's unfortunate people were feeling they had to rush due to the phrasing used.

DD & I went here for character breakfast about 8 years ago and I honestly believed that there was a 1 hour limit. After the characters made their rounds, everyone got up and left. I was a bit upset because I felt that I didn't finish my breakfast and had to leave with everyone!

Maybe it's for health reasons?

One hour at a sugar/transfat buffets filled with marathon runners could be deadly...

(You decide if I'm kidding or not :) )

I didn't take it out of context in any way.
He greeted us with a spiel of how quickly he need to tell us what foods there are and what will take place with the characters, all the while as he spoke in a urgent manner and he did this with the other tables nearby as well vs other wait staff who were calm.
It was part of the whole presentation and demeanor of our waiter.

Considering the inflated pricing of this meal...I would be FURIOUS to be rushed! No way - speak to upper management & don't let this slip by.

Well we got the check at the 60 min mark. Lol.

OK. Some people ask for their bill right up front, but it doesn't mean they just leave then. How long did you linger after the bill?

According to the two managers "dinner takes an hour" ... did hear him tell other tables that "dinner is an hour" ....

At crystal palace they say that it takes about a hour for all the characters to come around, which gives a different feel to the experience.

I'm so sorry; I'm not getting the difference between any of those statements. Can you explain what you hear in each of those?

Especially since you'd been there before, and I assume know how long you generally take there...how does that change your experience?

Who was "everyone"?

So other wait staff were not acting like this. Therefore it was a server thing. Either it was in the way he said it or it was what he was saying. But still, obviously it wasn't a restaurant thing, but a "him" thing. Why not ignore it?

To me, saying that "dinner is an hour" is just another way of saying "dinner takes about an hour." Did he actually use the word "limit" when he spoke to you?

According to the two managers "dinner takes an hour" but this was not what we were told by our waiter, infact i waited to hear if i had heard wrong(dh was livid when he heard it) and did hear him tell other tables that "dinner is an hour" and those other tables seemed to rush to eat because they cleared out before us, no mention of the word "takes" which changes the whole statement. Also we did not hear that same statement or mention of how long dinner was going to take from other wait staff at nearby tables.

At crystal palace they say that it takes about a hour for all the characters to come around, which gives a different feel to the experience.

Another statement was that the characters only come around once, if you missed them they wont be back.

Let me say i have been eating at 1900 for the 6+ years and never once had i heard this before.

I thought it was a new policy and didnt read it in the policy when making my adr.

Will try to reach out to the hotel gm tomorrow.
please do so and let us know what they say. That is so rude! and you are absolutely right - stating that it takes about an hour for the characters to come around basically is telling people "don't rush through dinner, stick around even if you are done for the characters." Saying that DINNER is an hour sounds like they are saying get out of there after an hour.

This tells me that your server was trying to turn over his tables quickly. He wanted you in and out in an hour and would do anything to make it happen. I would escalate your complaint as far as you need to, this isn't acceptable behavior!

I would escalate this. I have never been rushed, but I won't let anyone do this.

Last August I took the girls to 1900 PF while the rest of the family went to Sanaa on an adult night. We had not even sat down when Lady Tremaine was making her rounds to the table. Please give us a minute to get settled, we are not even sitting down. The server told me we either visited then or no Lady Tremaine. No, we will sit down and then we start the meal, and the character experience. WE did and she came.

I think there may be over achievers working, and while they are few and far between, they should nt be allowed to ruin a very expensive dining experience.

at $50 a person plus tips for mediocre food (at ANY disney buffet) you should not be rushed by the waiter. If this is NOT the restaurant policy then the waiter needs to be reprimanded and the customer needs an apology from management. It's not acceptable to be treated that way by the wait staff.

of course she did. if you don't see her at the beginning of your meal you'll see her at the end. NOT ok and I would not let anyone rush me through either given what I am paying to be there. AND the server's tip would be impacted with an explanation to the manager as why. They need to know this bullying tactic will net them less tips, not more.
