One dropoff but two sides of the terminal

My sister and I are planning to share a Lyft or Uber from AKL to MCO on Wednesday. She's flying American and I'm flying JetBlue, so I think our check-in areas are on different sides of the terminal.

If we get dropped off at American, will I be able to walk through the terminal to the JetBlue side without having to pass through security? Because I'll have to check my bag.

Or . . .

Is there a way to get a second dropoff from an Uber or Lyft driver? And, if so, is this an option on the app? And where should we get dropped off first?

Yes, the terminal forms almost a square. A side and B side (where you get dropped off) are opposite each other. On the other ends are the security checkpoints, low numbers and high numbers are opposite each other. If you get dropped off at A, you just walk through the main atrium and will get to the B side.

Note that the terminal is longer than on the A/B sides than the security checkpoint sides. So depending on where the specific airline desks are located, you might have to walk across the terminal and down a bit to get to the other airline. I'm doing this exact thing with a friend who is on United and I'm on American next week. I don't need to check a bag though, so we are just going to be let off wherever you go for United and I'll walk straight through to the security area. But I'd be able to walk to the American desk if I wanted to.

If the two of you are arriving via car or Mears or Uber or whatever to begin your trip home, then you can walk to any security area no matter where you entered the building.. As long as you do not go through that security to escort your friend to his/her gate you can go back to the ticket counter and not need to be re-screened. Now, you will have to be screened for the first time when you are ready to go to your own plane's gate. This may or may not be at the same security area,

In most cases, if you took Uber and they dropped your friend off on one side (A or B) it will take longer for Uber to drive around to the other side to let you off compared with getting off with your friend and walking to your ticket counter and gate.

If you did not already notice, one security area is for some of the A side airlines and some of the B side airlines. The security at the opposite end is for the rest of the side A airlines and the rest of the side B airlines.

Double check your gate number and follow the signs for that before choosing a security line. Depending on crowding, there may be stantions e.g. Tensabarriers (tm) set up in the concourse behind security so it is awkward to get to the desired tram if you entered the wrong quadrant of the security system even if you were in the correct half of the terminal building.

Today is getaway day and we decided to take separate cars so neither of us would have to drag our stuff across the terminal.

that's cool that they are next to each other! Since I don't need to check a bag it won't matter, so we're just telling the driver to go to United.
