We will be going to MK for just one day in August. Would like a decent place to eat, grandparents are coming and they don't like fast food - hamburger type meals. Any suggestions? How is Tony's on main street? I ate there years ago and can't really remember. Or the Plaza? Not sure where that is though. Thanks for the help. :)

:thumbsup2 We loved Tony's when we were there last September. Pretty traditional food with good service and huge portions.

The Plaza has some great looking sandwiches! You should check out the Food Picture thread. Then you can see all the yummy food and decide from there. Don't forget that Chef Mickey's and 1900 are just a hort monorail ride away IF you like character meals. ;)

Don't forget to consider the monorail resorts: Contemporary, Polynesian, and the Grand Floridian. Each has character breakfast/dinner or regular TS. It also provides a nice break in the day.

Are you wanting lunch or dinner? If you'd consider lunch, then I'd recommend Liberty Tree Tavern, as it has a nice a la carte lunch menu, with a reasonable variety of dishes.

If you are looking for a CS lunch that isn't your typical burger or pizza lunch I would recommend Columbia Harbour House for a great tuna sandwich.

At MK, we enjoy Columbia Harbour House, Pecos Bill, Liberty Tree Tavern, and Crystal Palace. If you want to take the monorail over to one of the resorts, we enjoy 1900 Park Fare at Grand Floridian, Kona's at Polynesian, and California Grill at Contemporary.

Tony's Town is good. I would go there over Plaza. My opinon.

I would recommend Liberty Tree Tavern for dinner, or Columbia Harbor House for lunch. CHH is counter service with a nice selection and seats upstairs for a quieter dining experience. LTT is yummy and offers a character buffet dinner.

Also accessible as pp mentions are the monorail hotel restaurants. Kona at Poly is a nice place for either lunch or dinner. Enjoy!

At MK I enjoy the buffet at Crystal Palace. How old are your kids?? They have the Winnie the Pooh characters there. We eat there every year.:yay:

If a non-hamburger Counter Service lunch is what you are looking for, I agree with Columbia Harbour House. They have a great, fresh Tuna sandwich and the Chowder is also good.
We ate lunch at the Plaza Restaurant years ago and enjoyed it very much. It is an attractive sit down restaurant right on the Tomorrow Land end of Main Street. It has nice, big sandwiches with either chips or German Potato Salad and great ice cream and fountain drinks.
If you are looking for a dinner TS I would also suggest one of the Monorail resorts. We enjoyed Kona Cafe at the Poly very much. With travel time this will most likely take between 1 1/2 - 2 hours though.
Have a Great Trip

I don't know what your travel plans are, but you can also eat at any resort restaurant on a day when you are not at MK. You might not want to take the time out to travel to a resort restaurant if you only have 1 day at MK. If you are staying off property you can drive to any resort or DTD to eat whenever you want....no tickets required!!!

I have eaten at Liberty Tree Tavern for dinner only. The food is more of a comfort style. At dinner they have a character Thanksgiving meal which is great fun. Lots of character interaction, but I am sure they would leave your table alone if you are not into that. Everything is served family style and they will bring you more as it is an all-you-care to eat restaurant. They have several different types of meats, dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, salad, rolls, dessert, and drink. No burgers at this restaurant during dinner. During lunch, they do serve burgers, sandwiches, and the like, but they also serve the Thanksgiving meal, but probably on a smaller scale. I don't think they have characters at lunch. Another good option for veggies and that sort of thing would be Crystal Palace. I have only eaten breakfast but the food was awesome. Hope this helps and have fun.
