So I have one day in DL coming up. I need to know some character stuff, and some prices and serving sizes of things I want to get... Help me out please!

Pommes Frites - How much do you get? Can it feed more than one person? Also, I heard the price was around $5. Confirm, anyone?

Dole Whip vs. Dole Whip Float - Which should I try? Price?

Tinkerbell Twist - Do they still sell them? And if they do, price?

Hungry Bear Restaurant - Is it open yet or still being refurbished?

Monte Cristo - Do or Don't? (price too)

Bengal Barbecue - Best skewers? (prices if you know)

Peter Pan - His whereabouts during the day? I want to meet him!

I know I have a lot of questions! Please answer what you can and help me out!

:yay:

You can look at menus on allears.net which is pretty accurate. It will give you a general idea for prices (although prices could go up before allears is updated). To get to the DLR section go to the tiny link on the bottom and then you will see links on the left for dining and menus.

Pomme Frittes - yes it's enough to feed more than one person, especially if you're ordering other things.

Bengal Barbecue - I think the chicken and veggie skewers are the best. I had the non-spicey beef one which was good too but the chicken one is really good. DH got the beef one once and had a lot of gristle on his so he won't eat there anymore but when I had the beef it was fine just not as good as the chicken, imo. DH also tried the bacon wrapped asparagus which he didn't care for. I know a lot of people here like them but I think he thought they were over-cooked.

Hope that helps!

Absolutey agree! I say definitely get the Monte Cristo ($15.99 I believe) and split that and the Pomme Frites. :thumbsup2

Your best bet to find Peter Pan is to stop at City Hall early in the morning and ask when and where Peter Pan is scheduled to be that day. He may not be scheduled to be out that day, but they will be able to tell you one way or another.

He should appear during Fantasmic, but that's that not a meet and greet opportunity.

Peter Pan, Alice and the Mad Hatter are at Coca-Cola Corner daily at 2.30PM.

We saw Alice and the Mad Hatter there for Musical Chairs, but no Peter (this was back in January though).

For your information, the book "Unofficial Guide to Disneyland" has touring plans and they have one specifically if you're going only for one day. This book is full of information and highly recommend it.

Cheaper than the float and I don't think putting it in pineapple juice adds that much.

But definitely get one - and the line is much shorter inside the queue area for the Tiki Room - and you can enjoy your whip inside the Tiki Room ( one of the few attractions that allows food )

Okay thanks. I thought it looked yummier with the juice but if it isn't a big improvement, then I'll just give the whip a try. :)

I completely disagree with Icasa. I think the dole whip float is amazing. I think it adds more of a delicious pineapple flavor and you get the best of both worlds. Dole Whip Floats are my new Disneyland weakness.

Also, look at it this way, they give you so much soft serve in the float you are not really being deprived of any if you don't want to drink the pineapple juice.

This is my last post... i swear.

Pomme frites are amazing. More than enough for 2 people if eaten as an appetizer or side. They are 4.99

Monte Cristo... is a must. I like the three cheese one during lunch, but the classic is good too. i liked these so much I bought a deep fryer just so I could make them.

Wow! Thanks for all the advice! I'll see if one of the people in my group wants to split them with me....but then again....maybe not.... :P

Highly recommend this book as well. It will save you lots of time.

the UOG suggest using the plans on non MM or EE days. Anyone care to comment? Any links to doubt othewise!?

If you are asking "should a one day visitor choose an MM day or a non MM day?" the answer would be a non MM day. (Wed first choice then Mon).

But...I'd take a Tuesday or Thursday over Friday (which can be brutal in the evening).

But....if you're talking about visiting NON summer (& only have one day) I might opt for Sunday.

But....if one is visiting two or more days, then other variables come into play. So i guess the answer is....it depends. :)

Clear as mud? ;)

The UOG gives good basic info & good background info (that is sometimes wildly inaccurate)....but after one has the basics down, one can come here & get specific answers on tips & strategies & a variety of opinions (which represent lots of valid points of view).

:)
