Once you stay deluxe, do you ever go back to Mod/Value?

We have stayed at the Contemporary a couple of times~really, we didn't fully appreciate the "deluxe concept" at the time, and since then have stayed at Value Resorts. Now, in February, we are getting a wonderful gift: DH is going to attend a Disney Institute training seminar, and we will be staying at the Boardwalk Inn. Will we be spoiled for life?? When we go back to ASMo or PC (on OUR dime)...will be longing for the plush, good life? ;)

Depends on the person.

Frankly, the room size and beds are a big factor in our decision.
And deluxe resorts fit the bill for us.

Plus, there's no concierge at the mods/values!;)

We have no problem going from deluxe to value. We refuse to stay at the moderates. Depending on what our trip is for is how we decide where we are staying. GF concierge for our anniversary trip in Sept. Boardwalk or Dolphin for our food/wine fest weekends. Quick weekend trips at the All Star sports or Pop.

They all work for us!

For a quick trip, the value resorts are just fine. When we go for over two days we will always stay at a deluxe, specifically a resort on the Boardwalk or the monorail line. We like transportation choices offered at the resorts.

I just got back from my first Deluxe stay at the Yacht Club. I loved it, but I will have no problem going back to Port Orleans. I think every Disney resort has something wonderful to offer, even if it isn't a deluxe.

It's hard....it's really hard.;)

We have also stayed at Deluxe, Mods, & Value! We haven't had a bad stay yet!!!

We also do "quick trips" - like just to see Disney at Christmas or last year we tried the Halloween party. We stayed at All Star Movies! It was great! For our upcoming trip, we are staying at Pop Century - couldn't pass up that $49/night rate!!!

Usually, in the summer, we stay longer and we spend a lot of time at the resort. So, we like to stay at a deluxe. In July, we did a split stay at Pop Century (to try out the new hotel!) and Wilderness Lodge!

It just depends on what our plans are for the trip! But, we have no problem going value to deluxe to mods to value, etc.

We have no problem going from deluxe concierge to value. We go in the right frame of mind and enjoy the stay in Disney regardless of the property. We do not expect deluxe amenities when staying at the value/mods and plan to have a good time regardless of where we are. That has worked for us and we've enjoyed each one of our stays. For some people, room size is a big consideration and can really affect their comfort as the bigger the family, the more room you need, so the values can be tough to swallow. Others want to be pampered; after all, they've worked hard for their vacation and want someone to take care of them for a change...

So, in my long-winded way I'm trying to say that it all depends on your expectations as well as your budget. Everyone has different needs and adapt differently to situations. If value is what you can afford, then truly enjoy the opportunity you have to stay at a deluxe and cherish the memory. And when you go on your dime to a value/mod, enjoy your well-earned vacation! After all, Disney is magical regardless of budget!

No problem! We stayed at 2 deluxes before trying a moderate (CSR) and we were thrilled with our stay! Never done a Value yet, but I'm sure we'd be fine with that too.

I have been to all three. I love the deluxe, I mean who doesn't. But, it all depends on the people going. I mean, how much are you really in your room other than to sleep or rest? The value resorts serve its purpose as does the deluxe. We normally stay in the moderates because they are nicer than the value, but not as expensive as the deluxe. We always go for the best deals. We are staying in the WL in December for the amount it would normally cost us for a moderate. If you have the money to spend, go deluxe, if you would like to cut corners and spend your money shopping, go value!

I'll find out next April. We stayed at the GF for our honeymoon this year and enjoyed the concierge lounge and the castle view from our balconey.

Next trip I'm pretty sure we'll be at CSR.

I haven't completely ruled out another deluxe.......but I have a hard time justifying that much money for a balconey.

We have no problem bouncing between them. We stay at WL in Feb (it was cold and needed the hot tub, plus value season) so this is good for us.

In the spring we wanted to stay for 2 weeks, so a value works for us. We don't need a hot tub and the days are longer and spend more time in the parks. We have a car, so can dine anywhere we want. Just need a room and pool.

In the summer, the crowds and groups are a little too large for us at the values and moderates, so we again choose a delux (this year WL, last year CR).

In the fall, we have no problem going back to the values (Pop this time) and again will be spending massive amounts of time at food and wine. We also needed 3 rooms for friends and family, so in order for our grown kids to use our CM discount, we had to be booked at the same location. Not a problem for us and the kids and their friends get a great rate.

Back to WL again in January, need those hot tubs.

So think of it this way. Would you rather stay 3 weeks at a value or 1 week at a delux. STaying longer has always been my choice.

We've stayed at a variety of resorts. Our whole family (4 kids) has stayed at Poly, Swan, and AKL. My husband and I, with our then toddler, have stayed at WL, CR, and CSR and I have stayed with my 4yo at Pop.

My husband and I hope to go alone to WDW in October and plan to stay a couple nights at a moderate (CBR?) and a couple of nights somewhere else, maybe a deluxe (and if not maybe POR). I will be going alone with our 4yo this fall and want to stay at POFQ. I also plan on bringing my 10yo to WDW this January and will probably stay at Pop (he's like it there and we'll be spending all our time at the parks).

We've basically gone from staying at all deluxes to mixing it up. When my youngest was under 3yo we could stay at the Poly in one room, which was nice. If we were getting two rooms, though, it would have to be at a cheaper resort.

Like others have said, it's not really hard going from one type of resort to another as long as you don't expect deluxe amenities at a value resort.

Here's my thing - and by the way, I'm GADISNEYGIRL's DH. We had the possibility of a trip to the Holy Land (israel, jerusalem, etc.) that would have lasted 10 days with an extension into Egypt and somewhere else. This was just after we had returned from a tower stay at the Contemporary (credit card company loved us for that one!). Like everyone else on here, we couldn't get enough of WDW and were thinking about when we would go on our next trip to the CR and how we would pay for it. We totaled up what a 5 night trip to WDW at the CR would cost vs. the cost of this 2 week trip overseas. WDW was WAY more expensive (like over $1000).

As we've talked about it over and over, when mostly what we do is sleep in the room (our DS is only 2 1/2), there's not much sense in paying deluxe prices. Especially now while he's so young and the pools don't mean much to him. When he gets older, maybe splurge cause we're spending more time at a resort.

Our dream is the yacht Club. Can't afford it on a minister's salary. So until people start tithing in churches and pay preachers more, looks like we're staying at the values! LOL.

By the way, I think this is the first post of my wife's that I've ever responded to. I love you babe!

God bless!
Mark

We go back and forth. I really love deluxe, but in the summer when we are at the parks from open till close, I just can't see spending the money for a deluxe resort when we aren't at the resort except to sleep and maybe a quick swim. I'd rather spend the money on great dining. But, in the months that have shorter park hours and we are at the resort a lot more, we spend the extra for deluxe!!:wave2:

Prior to DVC, DH and I stayed at GF, BWI, and WL and enjoyed our stays. Just this past January we stayed at Pop and had a blast! We've also stayed at ASMu on weekends to save on DVC points and have liked those stays as well.

I find that we're just happy to be at WDW, no matter where we stay :earsboy:

Mark......that is so sweet! :p That is wonderful that you are a pastor. God bless you and Gadisneygirl. That is one of the hardest jobs IN THE WORLD. And I can't agree more with your consensus. WDW is expensive and once in a while it is nice to splurge, but when you compare it to other things (even a trip to Israel) sometimes you just have to scale it down. It's easy to get carried away, it's so much fun. :D

But, to your question, Gadisneygirl..............I have stayed at all three and my Value visit was after my WL visit. My DH loved it! I think he also loved all of the money we saved. ::yes:: And then, the next year, he and I alone went back to WL.

This time we are off-site. When I first saw your question, my first thought was..........How am "I" going to go back to onsite after having 1200 square feet and my own jacuzzi tub and washer/dryer???:p

BTW.....my twin sister is in Cumming. We love visiting her there. She's one of the Northern transplants. :teeth:

I'll let you know in Dec. We have stayed at ASMo and Pop. I liked ASMo, it was very cute. We have three small children and there definitely isn't room at the values and we really don't want connecting rooms so we're going with deluxe this time. Just made our ressie for GF!!

If value was the only way I could get to WDW - then I would do it again - I'd prefer not to. I did have a great trip there with my son in '99, but we spent so little time at the resort, it didn't matter. Now we spend more time at our resort, so I like some extra amenities. We had a wonderful stay at CSR & I would do moderates again in a heartbeat. But it seems to be working out that most of our stays are at deluxe resorts. (I've been lucky with rates)

Our first three stays were in deluxe, then we had two in moderates. We loved all of them. I am always so happy and relaxed just to be at WDW. I have one moderate, one value and two deluxe stays coming in the next nine months and look forward equally to all of them.

Just plan on a great time no matter where you stay.
