Hey everyone!

I'm finally getting to check in. We're in Huntsville, AL and still without power. Stayed Thursday night in Chattanooga to get supplies. We had no idea they had been hit -- I guess we had lost power by that point. We actually had no idea how bad everything was until we got to the hotel and could watch tv.

Hoping to get power by Monday.

We had no damage and everyone is safe. My kids were home and either a tornado or just wind shear caused some damage very close to our house. Continuing to thank God for His protection and provision. Lifting those up who have lost everything. The death toll just keeps rising. So sad. It really makes you count your blessings.

Hug your loved ones.

Kristen

I'm so glad you are are safe, but sorry you have no power. I know how you feel though, it wasn't until I was somewhere with power (hotel room Wednesday night) that I was able to hear how bad the storm had been for so many. And it wasn't until Thursday/Friday that I realized how bad the small town just 4 miles from me had been hit.

We spent some time yesterday going around one of the neighborhoods volunteering to help people clean up their yards. It was actually good to be able to help someone instead of just feeling helpless... and it was good for our DS7 to see what had happened and he felt good about helping some of the "grandma and grandpa's" out there...:)

Please keep us in your thoughts. My town was hit by the tornadoes Wed night. Everyone is fine. DD and I were out of town w/ Girl Scouts. Many of the girls came home to no homes. Our home is fine, my cousin, who has a farm was hit pretty hard, and he just lost his dad 2 months ago very unexpectedly to a heart attack.

My DS11 did not handle me being gone well at all. He has not left my side at all today. He told me he was afraid we were not coming home. We are dealing with abandonment issues here.

Oh dear, so sorry to hear this... my thoughts are with you all :grouphug:

October 2, 6, 7*, 10, 11, 13*, 16, 18, 20, 21*, 23, 25, 27, 28**, 30* and 31**

Those are the official Halloween party dates. So we are going on the 20th. Here is the official thread. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2711381

Sorry for my ignorance, but whats the * and ** for?:confused3

HUGS PRAYERS AND FINGERS CROSSED FOR YOU :goodvibes

My grandparents are in Jasper and I have other family in Culman (coleman?)...

My grandparents were on their backup genrator and were FINALLY able to call us. Huge sigh of relief here. We will be up that way in July for their 50th anniversary!

For some reason you can purchase the tickets in advance on the * days but you don't get the discounted price. I have asked about this but no one knows why!

Thanks for the replies:goodvibes

Not sure what date we're doing yet - will have to consult my itinary:rotfl2:... it changes almost daily:rotfl2:

I feel so unprepared for these cruises compared to previous ones. Most big things like villa, car hire, etc are organised... just not yet paid for:rolleyes1

I really need to get my finger out and do more planning but I just dont seem to fit it all in a day:confused3... time always runs out on me:confused:

Its beautiful weather here at the moment, so I will ocnfess to sitting on my sunlounger for half the afternoon soaking up some rays:beach: ...its our hottest April on record:banana: and we're loving it!

Glad to hear that you/your families are doing ok! We went to volunteer yesterday and found out you have to be 18 (16 in some places). Frustrating since my 6 foot son is only 15. It took so long to get it figured out that he could not help we wound up going home. At least we were willing but it was disappointing.

Bright spot -- I made the rest of our ADRs! We're eating at:

Mama Melrose
'Ohana
Biergarten
Crystal Palace
Boma

Just reading that list makes my tummy growl! Happy planning!!

Just wanted to drop in and wish everyone a Happy Early Mothers Day!!

Have I mentioned I am beyond excited for this cruise. I do not think I have ever needed a vacation so bad!!!

Hello Everyone,

It's been a while since I posted. My family and I are very thankful to have survived the tornadoes that hit northern Alabama last week. We have minor damage to our home and lost 2 sides of our privacy fence. We are very fortunate compared to many in our community. It looks as if a bomb went off in our community.

One of the storms passed just south of the school where I teach, while we were still in. It was a moment I will never forget. And on top of everything, it all happened on my birthday. Needless to say, my birthday will never be the same. We went to Murfreesboro, TN and stayed with my aunt while we were without power (which ended up being 5 days). Others are just now getting their power, after a week. I went back to school today and students are returning tomorrow. I still feel like I am in a daze, even after all this time.

Please pray for everyone in North Alabama as we deal with trying to recover. Someone very close to us lost her boyfriend in the twister that hit Tuscaloosa. Marcus was a wonderful Christian man, only 21. Please pray for the Smith families in their time of loss, as well as the other families in our state who lost loved ones.

Gena,

Glad to hear you all escaped with relatively little damage. I will specifically be praying for the Smith family, for the Lord's peace and comfort.

I went with some of the youth from our church the other day to deliver supplies in the Monrovia area. We wound up delivering the stuff in Madison because Monrovia had all the supplies they could handle. Thats's a good thing -- it means everyone is helping out and pitching in. Makes me proud to live in Alabama.

Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone's friends and families as they begin to recover from the recent storms. :grouphug:

Out of everything we could have in common a TORNADO was not on my list! We will have much to celebrate and be thankful for on this cruise! Looking forward to meeting you all in person!

Happy Mother's Day!!!:flower3:
