Allow me to introduce myself, I am a mom of one great Disney nut teenager and an aunt to two girls and two boys. The tradition in our house seems to be me bringing the kids to Disney for their 7th birthday celebration. This year my trusting sister allowed me to take the twin girls to Disney for their first trip to celebrate their 7th birthday and my Mom came along with my daughter (who was celebrating her soon to be 18th birthday) and husband to round out the party. This was my Mom's first trip too. Well we got to Disney magically enough with the help of that wonderful magical express. My mom was very impressed with all my planning (this is my 5th trip there) little did she know this is all done by Disney and their wonderful service but we just kept quiet about that part, nothing like Mom being impressed with you to start a great vacation. LOL.
Once we got to the hotel the girls were greeted with wonderful birthday hat ears and balloons (arranged again by the aces staff at Disney with one phone call) they were besides themselves with happiness at this point. This was to be just the icing on the birthday cake even for me. The next day we set off early as can be with the girls all wearing their birthday hats, to go to our character breakfast with Winnie the Pooh at the Crystal palace, which is what I find to be a nice start to a magical Disney vacation for newbies (after learning from experience that the Tower of Terror should not be the first ride you put a 7 year old girl on during her first trip to Disneyworld. My Daughter will never recover LOL.) Well when we got to the gates of the Magic Kingdom we were approached by a Disney cast member and asked if we would like to be the first family at the Magic Kingdom that day! Now I was besides myself because although I consider myself not a Disney Newbie I had no idea what this meant, but as I told her it's Disney so it's got to be good whatever it is and YES WE WANT TO BE THE FIRST FAMILY. Well I am not sure if you all know what that means, but it's the family that gets to open the park with Mickey Mouse! Awesome to the limit, the kids were blown away when we were led away from the crowd with a cast member escort.
We were brought into the park prior to the opening, given a tour on the fire truck through the park and we were given some other surprises that I will not share in case someone out there gets picked as well, don't want to ruin all the magic, but the whole thing ended with us being on the bandstand with Mickey counting down the opening of the Park!!! What an amazing thing! We always wondered how those people got up there and now we were those people...The kids loved it, my Mom loved it, even my husband who has been many times was like a kid again. I don't think the smiles left us the whole trip...It was truly a once in a lifetime event. There is no place on earth like Disney. This is a vacation I will remember forever. Thanks for letting me share.
