Once I board the ship, are cabin upgrades any cheaper? I know that some cruise lines will let you upgrade to a room for as low as $15.00. Thanks again DISboards!!!

Just be careful with upgrading. Once you upgrade you may never go back. We went from a category 9 to a category 5 and then when we rebooked on board DH only wanted a category 5.

If we upgraded this cruise I know DH will want to stay with the upgrade on our next cruise. Imagine having to talk him down from a category 3 or 4.

We are currently in a Cat.6 have done 6 and 5 prior but would love to upgrade to a 3 or 4. how much is the upgrade cost?Do you check at check in to see if there are cabins avail?

When you check in at the Port they can give you the price which is basically the difference between the two categories in price. This won't necessarily be a discounted price as Early Booking Savings will not apply. Be aware that is subject to availability though, and the ships have been sailing full nearly all cruises. Good luck! :)

Can we still upgrade at check in if we booked our cat. 4 room on points? I would like to pay the cash difference maybe to move to cat. 3 room. Does anyone know what is the approx $ difference between a cat 4 and cat 3 is in late September?

$1400 per person more for 2003. Looking at the price list given on board. Price for a cat. 3 is $2999 per adult. I'm sure its more now as the early booking savings prices was given to us 2 months ago. WOW That is alot of money.

It is my understanding that DVC points cannot be applied towards use of any stateroom higher than a category 4 on board ship. I do not believe they would allow an upgrade to a category 3 unless you were paying totally with cash.

On our 11/24/02 Eastern I booked cat. 8 with DVC points and the upgraded to cat. 6 for roughly $350 when checking in. I was told I got the last upgrade on the ship. It was around 2pm when I checked in (took the first DCL bus from the Contemporary). Get there early if you really want to have a shot at it! And everyone is correct - now I always just fork over the money upfront for a cat. 5 or 6 because I was spoiled on the first cruise with having a veranda and I can't imagine cruising without one!!!:earsboy:

This is We believe , first an upgrade has to be done at the
port. that is not on the actual ship once u step foot on the ship it is to late must be done at the ticket counter in the port building ....
Second .... W did this We had booked a Cat 10 on deck 5 Yes it was a secret porthole room , witch is like an upgrade u can give yourself....... if u boook it... to cat 4 on deck 8
there was no Cat 3 avaliable ....... so off to stateroom 8502
we went there where several rooms in this cat aval.
ok so for the cat 10 s/r we paid 1700.00 and the upgrade was $1000.00 so for the whole cruise $2700.00 for 2 people
and we also recieved a $100.00 ship board credit
for what i dont know upgrading u guess ???
and the other shipboard credit we already had of $100.00
so i think it was worth it loved the room location
next time back to cat 10 , but we liked it so much we did upgrade to cat 7 already going to try nav verandah
