Good morning wilderness!

I'm just stopping by to check on you and wanted to say that you are such a sweet person to want to stay and help coworkers but like you said you gotta put your family first. A big thanks from me too for all you nurses do. You certainly are not paid enough!

I hope you have a wonderful and relaxing 4 days off work. You so deserve it! WTG with staying OP!!!

Four days off! You definately need it. Rest this weekend. I noticed your countdown. Less than a month until WDW!

Have a good one,
Beth

Wilderness: Willpower comes in many forms - saying no to working too much takes a bunch of willpower. Good for you for not answering the phone - maybe they should call in an agency and get a few more RN's oncall for the summer.

I've had just the opposite with my nails since eating low-carb. All that protein and fat is doing wonders for my nails and hair. I still will break them at the quick if they get too long and I'm not careful while gardening. My hair is growing over an inch every 5 weeks...my stylist is thrilled, I'm in for highlights much more often!

You're doing great with your excercise plan. I've got to add some weight work to mine.

Wilderness,

I am so proud of you! You didn't answer your phone. Good for you! You need to remember to take a vitamin. I'm sure it is a combination of vitamin deficiency and the frequency of your hand washing. I know it can be hard to remember, but try to put it next to your toothbrush.

wilderness,

Good for you in not answering that phone, you need the break. I remember to take my vitamins in the morning by having it sitting by my breakfast on the table. Once I've eaten breakfast, I take my vitamin. Maybe incorporating taking your vitamins with some daily routine might help.

I hope the doctor has some answers for you. Since I started South Beach, I often have to cut my nails because they get too long and I type a lot so I need shorter nails.

Take care and have a great weekend!

Wilderness,

Sorry about your MIL. I was reading your posts from a few pages back and I just wanted to comment on how strong a person you are to stay on track with your crazy work schedule and everything going on in your life. I've been a nurse for 24 years, but became a CRNA 9 years ago because I got sick of dealing with the crap you're dealing with. I'm glad you are taking care of yourself and saying NO OT!!! You need to do that more often. I remember the same thing, the supervisor would beg someone to stay and make you feel so guilty, but then they start asking you all the time because they know you will do it! I used to be so tired after working nights in the unit that I would pull into a restaurant parking lot and fall asleep in the car...I knew if I didn't take a nap right then and there that I wouldn't make it home. So as a fellow RN, I can sympathize with you. But remember, the work will get done without you, believe it or not. After I had kids, I really cut down on the amount of OT I was willing to do, my family came first. It's amazing how they expect you to do more with less...nothing changes unless, God forbid, something happens to someone and then they'll do their best to blame the poor staff nurse at the bottom, not the top-heavy system!

Sorry for rambling...just wanted to let you know that I'm behind you 100%...:cheer2:

  Wilderness,

I'm so sorry that you have so much to deal with. We do have a lot in common, RNs with families, and MIL from hell. If she is so interested in pictures, she can make an effort to visit and take her won pictures. Not that you want her to visit though. Again, I'm sorry that you are dealing with this. I am so impressed that you were so strong last night. Not ordering the pizza was a great move. WTG! I hope the exercise helps.

What is it about MIL's? Mine is no saint either so I can completely sympathise with you and Beth. My MIL was an hour and half late to our wedding reception because they had to go home and take a nap between the ceremony and the reception  . I think there is just something in MIL's that makes them become  - especially when they have sons.

Just remember deep breaths and while you cannot control the way they behave you can control your reactions to them. Learn to ignore them, and move on with your life the way you want to live it.

Went out to lunch today. Stayed OP for lunch. Had a piece of cheesecake for dessert. It was yummy.:D That is treats twice in two days. Tomorrow back to sugar free treats. Have a good one.

 Hi Wilderness,
Sorry to hear you are having problems with MIL. Sometimes I wonder if I am the only woman in the world who got a great MIL. When I hear stories about others I just want to call her up and tell her how much I love her!!

I totally understand that protective feeling over your kids. As soon as they're born, us mommies turn into a mother bear I think. If anybody dare hurt our kids they better watch out! Hell hath no fury like a mother.

Sounds like you had a nice weekend despite the MIL issues. I hope all is going well for you today :sunny: !

Wilderness,
I am so sorry for all that you have been going through with your MIL. Like Val, I have a MIL who has been wonderful to me. We have had a few rough times, but nothing compared to what you have had to deal with.

God bless you, Wilderness for putting up with this for the past 20 years. You are an amazing person and your children are very blessed to have you as their mom! ::yes::

I hope you have a wonderful week this week! Take good care of you!

Tracy:wave2:

Here is a . I'm so sorry you've had to put ulp with you MIL. You're right she doesn't deserve the pictures--hang in there. I can't believe she can be so distant and rude and expect you to send her pictures, pronto! Way to stay OP during this frustrating time. I think it can be so annoying when someone expects things to always go their way. Maybe she'll get a clue if you tell her they were all passes out at the confirmation party! SHOULD HAVE BEEN THERE! ::yes:: Take it easy and remember we're all here to :listen: Have a great day! :sunny:
