On the Travel Channel Now

DH and I were just reading through some of these, it's so cute to hear people's reactions isn't it???

His comment was that you could really understand that Erika knew how to take it easy with little ones and seemed to focus more on the good time that what she actually had to get done.

The wonderful thing that WAS shown, was that there are bunches of different ideas and ways of "doing Disney", but they all had a great time whatever they did.

The most important tip though they DID give.

REMEMBER, YOU CAN"T DO EVERYTHING!!!

I think that IS the key to a wonderful vacation at Disney World!!!

Happy families, make magical memories!!!

I think we ALL freaked when we saw the time on that clock! When our DS was smaller, we started in Fantasyland. As a matter of fact, one time we were done at Cindy's and waited at rope drop and were first on Dumbo. After another breakfast at Tony's (when Pooh was there), we were first on Space Mountain. I also nearly freaked out when I saw them stop for french fries! Erica seems like a very patient mom, who goes with the flow-that's why they had all that energy. I barely last past lunch!

My first thought was the same as yours with the wake-up time, but didn't that couple go for a massage? I think they were highlighted to show an adults type of trip.

And the girls in MGM - I think was filmed in a very low-crowd periods, but I could be wrong. Just looking at the number of people there, it really looked dead. If that's when those girls are used to going, then PS aren't needed. You can get almost whatever you want whenever you want it in the uncrowded times.

And I was exhausted after wayching Erika's day. WOO! :) Good for them that they were able to do everything they wanted to.

Even my dh freaked out with the 8:50 wake up!!! Then they commented on how Epcot was getting crowded when they finally got there!! He said..."Well of course it's getting crowded dopey head....people were there while you were getting your massage!!!" But, as I said to him...that just showed that not everyone is up and at 'em first thing in the morning. You can just relax and hang at the resort pool or get a facial and then amble over to a park for a quick visit if you want. Yep, something for everyone.

Funny, my 6 year old daughter woke up this morning and asked to watch it again on TIVO. (I have her already hooked!)

I heard Mr. Lloyd say something that really caught me -

"We mark time by our Disney trips."

OK, now how many of us also do this?!? ;)

I can't believe that family with the two small kids doesn't start in Fantasyland! She said they go to Adventureland first to ride all the kids' favorites with no waits...well, the no waits part might be right, but my kids' favorites aren't in Adventureland, LOL. I wonder exactly when they do Fantasyland and what the wait times are?!?

Thank You!! This was driving me crazy. They had the luxury of saving Fantasyland for last because they've been on rides "hundreds" of times. The first timer with children needs to be there at opening and go straight to Fantasyland where there will be NO WAITS. If you get to Pooh, Peter Pan, Dumbo, Tea Cups after 11:00 , forget about it. Your looking at 45 minute waits each. What's the rush to Adventureland if you have kids? Pirates? Jungle Cruise? The little kids can't ride on Splash or Big Thunder. I just think the Adventureland tip is for those who travel without young kids.

Yes, the alarm clock freaked me out too, LOL. But then when I saw their touring style I realized that with two adults who didn't have rides as a priority it was fine.

I also figured that much of what was said and done was selective and "staged." Otherwise I don't think the Epcot couple who had already eaten dinner would have gotten a R&C waterside table for Illuminations.

I think all the groups seemed like nice people, though I personally wouldn't choose to tour like any of them. Luckily, that's what makes life interesting--we're all different. As I said before, I'm happy Erika (I was wondering if we had any DISers on the show--way to go!) starts in Adventureland and I hope lots of people who were watching choose to follow her advice! ;) :p LOL BTW, they have a LOT more energy than I do, lol.

Everyone seemed to have a great time!

I loved the show. I liked how they did all four parks and more. I thought they did a good job of showing all the different ways to do the parks. We do both early mornings and sleeping late so that was nice. Yes, a lot of it was set-up like the ps and the girls getting in the show. We know that the show was not for Disers, it was more for newbies, which was fine by me. I didn't really want them to give away to many secrets. When they were saying the times of year they go. Someone said right after spring break, the week after thanksgiving and before christmas". I was yelling at the TV saying "No, that's to much information, and our best secret!" What I loved the most was they all explained why we are all disney addicts: " I have an emotional tie to disney. I have so many memories at disney" It's nice to hear it from someone else and to know your not alone.
TiverlvsPooh AKA Erika your family was so cute and it's nice to have a face to go with the name. You all did a great job:hyper:

Ok... I have to defend myself here! ;)

Remember, there were a lot of things that were not in our control... this was a TV show people. ;) We summitted a schedule for the day but it had to be changed for many reasons that I'm not going to get into right now. :teeth: Basically, the original plan was Cindy's Breakfast BEFORE the park opened so we could do Fantasyland first (since we were right there after eating). Well, they had to change our filming day at the last minute and they moved it up a day which happened to be EE day for MK!!! So I'm freaking out at this point knowing that Fantasyland will be insane by the time we finish eating at Cindy's. So basically that was the main reason we changed it. Another big reason we didn't do Fantasyland was because they couldn't film us on many rides there... the only one we shot was Dumbo.... they couldn't take cameras inside Peter Pan, Small World, Pooh, Snow White, etc. So they were all skipped on purpose. So we decided to start with Adventureland first since a lot of rides were outdoors and easy for the crew to see us. We had like 20 people walking around with us ;) so it's not all that easy to maneuver.

So please don't think I'm a bad planner because I'll be really upset. ;)

As far as planning goes... we don't do set schedules because our kids are totally unpredictable. It was a miracle above all miracles that the kids filmed for about 15 hours straight with no napping or going back to the room. We would never EVER do that to them and the producers knew that. We are very big on afternoon breaks, but for the show we had to film everything in one day. And I'll tell you a secret.... hee hee :) .... after the crew filmed us walking into Pleasure Island that night (at about midnight after filming since 5:00 am) we turned right back around and went to bed! :teeth:

Feel free to ask any questions about our plan, what we did and why, etc, etc. There is a reason for everything, trust me!

You did an awesome job!

The critics need to, to quote Mystery Science Theater 3000,
Just repeat to yourself "It's just a show, I should really just relax"

:)

Erika, I know you've been to WDW enough to know your stuff. ;)

I figured most was out of everyone's control to some extent.

Regardless, your whole family looked cute and you had more than your alloted fifteen minutes of fame! ;)

Hey, and I was excited to say I know her from the boards! :hyper:

That makes sense. Too bad you couldn't cancel Cindy's and do EE, but I'm sure they had it planned that way. It just looked strange that they showed you at CRT and you gave the tip of getting a PS before park opening, then you all head off to Adventureland. That's definitely what I'd call backtracking. I know it was not your fault or your intention.

Yes, please don't feel that you're defending yourself! I meant no criticism, really! I figured many things had to be the way they were due to it being a tv show. I DID mean it when I said that I hope everyone watched and will now start their days in Adventureland though...LOL. :teeth:

Now, if it were me...I wouldn't have just told everyone that I left PI so quickly, LOL. Nope...I would say we partied until they closed, then got up and went to the EE park the next morning, LOL. jk

Your kids did a much better job than mine would have! That was a tough pace to keep!

And as far as thinking you're a bad planner...well, we all know that NONE of us here on the DIS are bad planners. If we were, well, we wouldn't be HERE on the DIS, right?

I did NOT mean for my comments to be hurtful and I'm sorry if they were! ::yes::

fyi... another DISer was on last night...the blonde gal with her 2 friends named Joslyn, Carla, and Kara at MGM. Joslyn posted a little over on the Community Board in another thread about this 'fan' show!

Here's the link to the other thread on the Community board with frndshpcptn aka "Joslyn" posts.

I can't believe how critial some are about fellow DISers. :(

Indeed, you did a FANTASTIC job. I thought the commando family was pretty funny. Getting up at 7:50 am? Me???

Erika -
I just wanted to take a second and tell you that you were my favorite part of the show! I didn't realize you were a DIS'er until this morning - I just thought you were upbeat, happy, bubbly etc and it made me want to be there!

Hope you guys had a great experience with it all!

I was just relieved that no "real" secrets, such as this board, or mousesavers, or getting a ressie then later applying a code, etc. etc. etc. was given! I was worried these "luxuries" I now enjoy would become knowledge for the common folk, kwim?!

wow, I had a feeling the family who was in magic kingdom were DISers!

The thing that got me the most angry had to be when the epcot couple BOUGHT THEIR TICKETS AT THE GATE! You gotta buy them in advanceeeeeeeeeee
