We flew to Copenhagen on TUESDAY in case of airline issues and planned three days to tour the city. We arrived Wednesday after an overnight on SAS from Chicago with 0/4 suitcases arriving with us. As of yesterday one had arrived (my friend's bag).

Our entire trip has been spent looking for the cases. We flew in from Charleston SC where it was 100 degrees. I literally have a pair of jeans, bra, underwear and a sleeveless shirt to my name. I guess today we'll shop but I'm 6' and my husband is 6'8 so I'm not hopeful in finding replacement clothes off the rack. I have $800 in new, tall, cool weather clothes in my bag.

I'm beyond frustrated and honestly, if friends hadn't tagged along, I'd fly home instead of putting on the same clothes for the 4th day.

If you're flying SAS, good luck. So far, they suck!

Fingers crossed they find them! That's terrible! I hope you make a claim for your clothes to the airline (keep receipts!)

I'm sorry. That is horrible.

A couple on our 12nt Med cruise last summer had the same problem. Disney was very accommodating and helpful to them. Their luggage arrived at one of our port stops so maybe if you let the airline know your schedule they can get it to you sometime (hopefully sooner) on the trip?

I hope you can still have a good time.

Please do not let this ruin your vacation! Norway ranks 4th in the world in tallest people (u.s. Is 9th) so don't be so quick to assume you won't find anything. Did you buy the new stuff (in your suitcase) with a credit card that covers purchases against loss or theft for 90 days? I know I had an AMEX at one point that did this. My DS and BIL had this happen to them on a cruise once, and they just said screw it, bought themselves new clothes and enjoyed the cruise. They submitted the receipts to the airline afterwards and were completely reimbursed.

yikes! sorry to hear that. this happened to my SIL's family too on their Mediterranean cruise (Princess) last summer. can't recall which airline it was (they flew out from california). they had to scramble and buy clothes in the gift shops on the cruise ship. but their luggage did catch up with them at the first or second port.

good luck to you though. i hope you see your clothes soon. may the rest of your trip be smooth sailing!

I am very sorry for your situation!! Make sure to let SAS know which ports you will be at when and request that they send your bags there. They really have to be able to do that, especially since they are located in Norway (as well as in Denmark and Sweden). Once they have your bags, they really have to send them on to you. Be firm that they do that! Hopefully, if the bag does not arrive by the time you leave Copenhagen, you will be reunited by the time you arrive in Norway!

Also, in my experience lost bags are rarely due to an airline, but due to the airport where you got a connecting flight. Some airports are supposedly well known for losing bags (CDG in Paris is one that comes to mind).

Laundry on the ship is quite affordable (2 $ per load), so at least you will be able to get through with just a few things.

I hope all the beautiful landscapes that you are going to see will make up for some of the hassle you have to go through right now!!

Airlines like to say there's no such thing as lost luggage; it's just delayed. Yeah right. Sure hope it turns up sooner rather than later.

That is a bummer but please don't let it spoil your time in that magical place! I agree Copenhagen has great shopping. They have a great undergarment chain called Wonderwear- I spent lots there. Keep your receipts- often you can get VAT refunded- and enjoy!

It definitely stinks that your bags didn't make it, but don't let this spoil your adventure. Wear the same clothes every day, wear garbage bags if you have to ;), it will all be fine.

Even if you can find a few mix & match pieces you should be able to pull off outfits for the entire trip. I know it isn't what you wanted or had planned but, unfortunately, it is what it is.

Hopefully your bags will find you somewhere along the journey.

I would make sure I bought a sweater and a windbreaker, a couple tee shirts, underW, and one change of pants--even if they look like capris--that is OK. Maybe some pants that zip off into shorts? You can wear pants a few days in a row and just switch tee shirts an then just do laundry every 3-4 days. Have fun--please don't let this ruin your trip. Also let guest services know when you get on the ship 1st thing--they might be able to liaason with SAS and also they might let you borrow/rent extra clothing. I have heard of cruiselines sending tee shirts, etc. to some who lost luggage. good luck. Elaine

I had this happen to me. We flew into San Juan the day of our RCCL cruise departure. Our luggage wasn't loaded onto the plane at our departure airport. US Airways took our itinerary info, told us that they would forward our luggage to a port and stayed in contact with the ship. My DH's bag made it before we set sail, but mine did not. I bought deodorant, tooth paste, two shirts, a swimsuit, underwear and flip flops to hold me over the two sea days until we got to our first port. They had dresses to borrow for formal night (they were dry cleaned!) and luckily the shoes I had worn the day of our departure were a pair of cute kitten heel sandals. I had no makeup though! Instead of taking our morning excursion in Aruba I shopped for some clothing in case my luggage never made it. My luggage made it to my stateroom that afternoon. This happened in 2006 and we had trip insurance. Our limit was $500 for replacement clothing.

It was quite the experience, but it certainly made me change the way I travel. I no longer fly in the day of a cruise. No matter where I'm flying to I now cross pack clothing and always take a carry on with one set of clothing for each member of my family.

So sorry to hear your situation. I am sure it is very frustrating but don't let it ruin your vacation.
I hope those bags will be found and delivered to you.

Sorry to hear about your luggage. I'm sure SAS is doing all they can for you. We personally had an awesome experience with SAS on our flights. We flew out of Dulles to Copenhagen with no issues. At least Copenhagen has some very nice department stores including H&M on the Stroget. Good luck.

Hang in there. Do yourself a big favor and "Let it go . . .. Let it go . . . " and enjoy your Norway vacation! You'll chuckle about it someday! It's all part of the adventure!

If you're under a time crunch for shopping, I'd focus on under garments (bras and underwear) and pants. T Shirts and hoodies/sweatshirts will be available onboard the ship.

If your luggage doesn't make it to you by the time you board, make sure to let guest relations know. They may comp some self-serve laundry charges for you since you'll be a frequent user.
