Are you guys familiar with 'Summer Magic' and the song "On the Front Porch"? I found good ole Burl singing it on Youtube and thought I'd post it here. I think of it every time I'm sitting on the rockers there in front of Crockett's tavern.

That movie is one of my favs!!! I have never been able to find it on DVD (even VHS ) . Hallmark Channel shows every now and then. Actually, Hallmark Channel shows more classic Disney movies than the Disney Channel.

I have it on VHS from 'back in the day' when they were selling all of Hayley Mills' Disney movies (they're all on my favorites list because of the turn of the century era of most, and camping scenes from Parent Trap - we wonder if they'll ever show the original Parent Trap at the Campfire Singalong).

I've decided not to buy any older Disney movies on DVD to see if they'll come up with a way to download them directly to somewhere (the brain?) in the future.

I like the original Parent Trap better myself. Personally I think Tia and Tamera Mowry (Twitches) would have been a better pick for the new version.

I've wondered before if Disney would do something like that at FW, maybe have a roving cowboy type with just a guitar and playing songs like this (cowboy songs too). I thought of it after I found out they were closing down Diamond Horseshoe Review and I wondered what would happen to the guy who was the MC (we loved him). (By the way, when I read on RADP that DHR would be closed and a character meet and greet would take its place, I wrote to Disney to tell them I thought it was a bad idea because there were many who like to take a lunch break in there and watch the show. I got a call back from a CM who told me there would never be character autograph station in there and I shouldn't believe everything I read on newsgroups. Yes, he really did say that!)

We'll have to try to get you a gig at FW! Do you know 'Blue Shadows on the Trail'?

Ha! yes, I was! I also found a link to Burl Ives in a now-closed Disneyland ride that I would have loved to see. It was in the circle theater that had Carousel of Progress in it so the audience moved from scene to scene, when it closed they used the AA animals in Splash, Splash is in frontierland, I consider frontierland an extension of FW so I think it should be Ok to add a link to it here (right?).

Thanks so much for the link. THIS is my favorite Haley Mills movie. I love Burl Ives. Some of my other favorites are Lavender Blue (Dilly Dilly) and The Ugly Bug Ball.

I think half of them are stuffed from eating BBQ peacock and armadiller, some of them are thinking Burl would be a good snowman, the rest are watching two wrists go by.

funny enough, i shared this video with my wife on viewing #234. She commented how much he looked like the snowman.... my favorite characters are the girl with the pissy look on her face, and that 1950's hip cat playing his guitar like he's picking with elvis.

aww man, that is my (disney) hilton head resort song. As you sit on the back porch of your villa, they pipe in Disney Classic music and that is one of the first songs i heard when we first stayed there. "all i wanna dooooooo", just love that song!
