? on switching from 1br to studio during stay

On our upcoming trip we've booked a 1br at VWL but we didn't have enough points (we're borrowing against our December use year) to stay the whole time in a 1br, so we're switching to a studio for Friday and Saturday night, leaving Sunday. It's not really a problem, our youngest is in a crib, even though we know it is going to be an adjustment coming from a 1br. My question is, my dh is wondering if the resort isn't full (it shouldn't be the week before Thanksgiving), can we ask them to remain in the 1br and pay the remaining point difference in cash? And if so, does anyone know how much that would be?

I have never heard of being able to pay for an upgrade like that in a DVC resort. You may be able to get the weekend nights fully on cash and then link the reservations.

Next question, if I rented the extra points needed to stay in the 1br for 2 more nights, do I have to cancel the reservation and begin again with a new reservation for the whole week or do they just revise the existing reservation?

Actually, if you rent the points for the last two nights, the member you are renting from will have to make the ressie for you. The only way for you to make that ressie is to get another member to transfer points to your account.

Once the ressie is made you will probably be able to get MS to link the two together.

Not taking into consideration where you will get the points, if you want to add days on to an existing reservation that can be done without cancelling the other days.
