On site car rental experiences

Would like to hear from anyone that has done on site car rentals, inparticular with Alamo and National. I was wondering how good the selection of vehicles available and does National have an Emerald Aisle there at the Dolphin? Any comments on other companies also would be appreciated. I would like to do a three day weekend rental so we don't have to rush for some special ADR's we have made (one is for my DS on his golden birthday - turns 10!) Thanks!

I don't believe you will find Emerald Aisle at the Dolphin. I rented through Alamo there and it was really quite quick and easy. I had rented a Taurus type car, but they asked me if I minded taking an SUV since they had no 'regular' cars left. I did and loved it..and there was no extra 'fee' for doing that.
There are a bunch of rental companies at the DTD hotels...check out the various websites and you should be able to track them down. A lot of them will come to your resort and take you to the rental office.

Alamo is the only agency at the Dolphin. Avis is not on property, but I believe there is an Avis counter at one of the off-site hotels within walking distance of the DTD bus stop. We've rented from the Dollar counter at the Grosvenor Resort and that was only a 5 min walk. And I know there's a Budget counter at one of the off-site hotels near DTD, as well. Most of these off-site counters at the hotels will also provide a shuttle if you schedule it 24-hours in advance.

Sometimes it is less $ to pick up and drop off at MCO using a discount code & coupon than to rent a car for 3 days...

Alamo is the only agency at the Dolphin.

National is also at the Dolphin. Check prices for both National and Alamo - as prices vary for the same car. A warning: the office opens at 8 a.m., and there will likely be a number of people waiting to pick-up their cars at that time, with only one person working the desk.

I "attempted" to rent from National at the Dolphin. Unfortunately the desk was staffed by a kid from Alamo who apparently had NEVER been trained. There were three people in front of me. Every 30 seconds the kid had to call someone to ask "what's the next step" and there was nothing unusual about the rental. After about half an hour I walked! Just cemented my decision to not deal with Alamo.

I have rented from Dollar at the Grosvenor. It was painless.

Is there a list somewhere of what rental places are on the WDW compound? I am looing one for like 3 days in Late Aug/early Sept (free dining) and not sure where to start looking for cheap tiny little cars
