Can you make a reservation for a relative to use your points, without the members themselves being there? We've never done this type of thing before, so don't know how/if it works. When DS gets married next March, we were thinking of giving them their honeymoon at one of the DVCs. Can we make reservations for our son to use DVC, but not us?

I'm sure that you can. Otherwise, how would people be able to rent points? :)

I just did it for my parents. All you do is give member services the names of the people who will be staying in the room.

You are a much better person than I for doing that... LOL ;)

we don't share our points.. their OURS, OURS, OURS! :teeth:

Seriously... As it has been anserwed yes you can do that. I made a reservation for my mother for a stay around her birthday as an Xmas gift one year.

And then this year I rented my points to a friend, as DW and I are going to Disneyland and using the points there is not worth it, so I just called made the reservation, giving the name of the people staying and that was it.

The confirmation letter still goes to the member so you should send that along with them (JUST IN CASE). It will have their name at it.

make a reservation like you would for you. Just give MS her name and any and all names in her party.

I do it alot - send family (alot) and Friends not to mention co-workers.

I am cheap though I only let others use OKW.

As long as you have their name added onto the ressie, it is no problem at all. I often add my son's name to my ressie (he works down there during holidays, summers, etc.) so that he can go over and check-in for me if I am flying in late.

You can make ressie for anyone. MS will just send the confirmations to you. Make sure you put their name and address on the ressie.

:hourglass 21 days till we go home to OKW
:earsboy: :earsgirl: princess: pirate: & friends

Thanks everyone. I know I should be a good Mom, and share the magic for DS's honeymoon. Now if I could only force myself to give up the points.

Well lets see...a really good mom would get them the Glass carriage and horses to drive up to the wedding chapel in....and the wedding dress with the mickey mouse head hand stiched in the lace and..........

NAH!
Which resort will you pick?

This "good mom" added on because of DS and DD, who after a 9 year absence from WDW, got the Disney bug (genetic??). I offered them some points one year (Sun-Thurs, studios), they went to WDW with their friends, now they're all hooked! :rotfl:

I saw that this would cut into my vacation, so DH thought an add-on was needed. :goodvibes It makes us happy that we can give them a great room, which helps them out. Also, it makes me feel good to know they're using amenities that I don't--the pool, the workout facilities, etc.

DD may be getting married in the next year or so--I told her, "Honeymoons deserve a 1-bedroom!" ;)

Make that ressie! :Pinkbounc
