I'd have to say off site. We stayed in an offsite villa at Windsor Hills last time and I'm really disapointed we are not doing it next trip. I felt really spoilt there. The fact that it would give me an extra 3days would be a bonus.

Tell your mom that a couple of other perks to staying on-site, besides EMH, is the delivery of store purchases to your resort at no charge and free parking at the parks/resorts. Also, you won't be able to watch Wishes from your off-site resort!!

Watching "Wishes" while sitting in a lounge chair on the beach at the Poly? Priceless! We love the convenience of staying on property.

I'll go with option C. Go for 9 nights at a cheaper Disney resort. If you still want deluxe, try the Contemporary, Wilderness Lodge, or Animal Kingdom Lodge. Or you could go to moderate and really save.

Agreed!

I vote on. I have done both and I just don't like having to leave Disney during our stay. I am also very much in love with the Poly since our stay last year, show some photos of the Poly and you will be sold. Taking the Monorail or ferry home and being able to see your room is wonderful after a long day in the parks, I felt bad for the tired people who had to schlep to the car when we had a 2 min walk to our room. Have a great trip whatever you choose!

I've priced out several options, and our top picks are Poly (garden view) and AKL (savanna view)

I'll update later.

Having stayed on property for every trip, I am spoiled and don't think that I could stay off property, if I was only doing Disney. We are a family that does 100% Disney for the entire stay, and we'd do whatever it took to stay on property.

I agree I am totally spoiled and would not wanna stay off property

I agree with everyone who said on.

You have a tough choice between Savannah View and the Poly. I like both equally. Did AKV October of last year and my 3 yr old still remembers staying there. Poly was my first love, though - October of 1989.... :cloud9: .........

Okay - I'm back. Haven't gotten to stay there since, as I bought DVC early on in the game. Can't rationalize the swap of points for it - my husband likes his jacuzzi too much!

My family and I stayed at the Poly during last visit and were very dissapointed, felt it was a total waste of $$$. I know many love it but to us it felt so outdated to be consider "deluxe", we've stayed at the AKL previous and loved it.
Next visit we are staying off site at WH condo, as the kids get older we feel the need to have them in a different room and looking forward to the extra space. I do have mix feelings about missing part of the magic by staying offsite but willing to try at least once.

I've never stayed at the Poly and have always wanted to, so from that perspective, I'd say the Poly.

But some of the off-site places look really nice and some people really like them (vacation homes with game rooms and your own pool, I know my grandsons would like that).

I wouldn't mind a few "down days" if I were staying at a nice off-site place. But there's that nagging "But it's the Poly" thought that keeps coming back to me so, I think I'd go for the Poly and do a condo/vacation home next time.

(if that's ok with Mom)

Half of my Disney experience on each trip is the resort. I feel like I was be missing half of my vacation if I wasn't on-site. My first stay was at Dixie Landings in '97, and I could never go off-site again.

Let us know how the discussion goes with mom, simonkodousek!
