I'm not sure which category to put this in. Mods, feel free to move.

I told a friend at work about the free dining, as he may be interested in going during that time period. He looked on the Disneyworld website, and could not find any info on it. I told him he must be overlooking and pulled it up on my computer. While I searched the website, a live chat window popped up! A message on it offered to help me plan my vacation. I clicked on it, and a freindly CM named Clayton asked if I had any questions. I was absolutely floored! I did ask about the free dining, and Clayton confirmed it for me. I thanked him for his help. Then, a short survey of what I'd thought of my Disney online experience popped up. I rated it excellent, of course. Is this something new they're trying? Has anyone else had this happen to them?

It was very cool. Made my day at work, in fact.

Yes. There was a thread posted HERE about it just yesterday.

And here it is:

(We had some fun with it.)

Thanks! I wonder how many "Claytons" they have. I wondered if he was a computer program, but when he asked my name for conversational purposes, decided maybe he was real.

I still think it's a great idea. I much prefer being online to sitting on hold on the phone.

My CM's name was Bevan. So, they may actually exist....
I need that job, getting paid to sit and chat online with people about Disney. (Wait, I do that anyway...)

Reminds me how back in the day if you wanted an ADR you would go to one of the booths under Spaceship Earth & a CM with a headset on would pop onto the tv screen & help you with your ressie.

But wouldn't it be great to get PAID to do that??

I'm still trying to find CLAYTON. I've gone to every page on the site and even turned off my pop up blocker, but no Clayton........ any ideas?

I'm familiar with that type of software as we used it at my previous job. Each agent (CM in this case) can handle multiple chat windows at the same time (which also explains why some replies take a little longer than others) so "Clayton" was probably talking to at least 3 or 4 more people at once.

Oh yeah.

I dated a girl like that once, myself.

That was SO cool! You'd just take a comfy seat, push a button and a smiling face would greet you. I still miss it - that empty area has been dismal looking for way too long. Those CM's were so helpful!

That was back when Future World WAS "Future World". And it was pretty darned amazing. Now, a pop-up CM on the Disney site seems fairly routine.

Letsbgoofy,
Don't tell my boss, but sometimes I DO get paid to do it....Shhhhhh, it will be our little secret.

I have no idea why he suddenly appeared to me. I spend a lot of time (way too much really) on the Disney website, both at home and at work, and that's the first time it ever happened to me. I was clicking on a lot of different things, trying to find Free Dining. Perhaps that had something to do with it.

I got the impression from the way I was surveyed immediately that the whole thing may be a trial balloon of some kind. I think it could be hugely successful, given the popularity of internet reservations, and may even give travel agaents a run for their money.
