Peeking my head around the "college board" corner for advise...

Has anyone taken totally on-line courses? I'm designing one for this summer and looking for anyone's experience with an on-line class that had especially creative or exciting assignments or approaches.

I'm planning on using threaded discussions (like this one!) but am looking for other ways to keep things hopping!

thanks in advance....

I had to take 4 online classes last spring due to the college program.

One course consisted of me watching videotaped lectures the professor created.

Two had reading assignments to be completed and a discussion bulletin board using WebCT. The teacher posted a few questions about the chapter and the class had to pick a question and respond to it, in addition to responding to what another classmate had said.

The last one involved reading notes on a webpage and doing assignments on Webassign, which is an online quiz program at my school, and doing lab assignments in Excel.

Two of the courses required closed book exams, so I had to use the College Program's proctor service. The other two allowed for the use of the book.
