I am going to attempt my first poll...

What do you put on top of your ice cream Jimmies or sprinkles?

Do you call it that bc of family or where you grew up? Did anyone not know what you were talking about when you have ordered them?

We have always called them sprinkles. I get confused when people talk about Jimmies.

I grew up in Maryland. Everyone in my area called them "sprinkles". Even the soft-serve ice cream truck that came around at the beach listed them as "sprinkles." I was aware, later in life, that some people used the term "Jimmies" but I never actually have heard anyone around me use that term.

What are Jimmies?? :confused3 Never heard of them.

Another name for sprinkles, ya know the thing that goes on top of ice cream that is crunchy? I grew up calling them jimmies. DH told me the only people who call it this are people who grew up in SE PA. The DIS has proven him wrong bc other people not in PA call them jimmies.

But I thought it would be fun to see how wide spread:goodvibes and what term wins. I am bored on this lovley Friday and dont want to tackle my laundry:rotfl:

I always thought they were sprinkles. My friends in Philly call them Jimmies. They also tried to convince me that a hoagie is a totally different thing than a sub, so who knows...

actually both...

sprinkles are colored and "flavorless"
jimmies are brown and chocolate

Does you sub have oil and oregano on it? That is what I was told was the difference when I moved from Philly to NY back to Philly.

On ice cream they are "jimmies"

On cupcakes/cakes they are "sprinkles" :confused3

Don't know why but grew up in central MA and that is what we have always called them.

I have never heard the term jimmies.

DS3 calls them frinkles.

I don't like them on my ice cream. I like them on cupcakes.

I had never heard the term 'jimmies' until I went away to college, we always called the sprinkles. One of my best friends is named Jimmy, I'd feel weird eating something named after him
