To anyone who has cruised lately- is OB deposit 20%. I know the last time we cruised they were offering 10% on cruises of 7 nights or more. Just wondering if they still offer that or if that was "special". Thanks

Yes, if you book onboard for a specific cruise, your deposit will be 10% on cruises of 7 nights or longer. 20% on cruises of less than 7 nights. If you book a placeholder, you have to put $200 down.

If you know the exact date you wish to cruise, deposit will be 20% for cruises of less than 7 nights or 10% for cruises of 7 or more nights. If you do not know an exact date, or the time frame when you wish to cruise is further out than what's currently available to book, you can do a "placeholder" for $200.

Enjoy your cruise!

Oops! wilma-bride beat me to it!

I recently put a 10% deposit on a 7 night cruise while on board. I didn't notice what the required deposit was for shorter cruises.

At least our answers were consistent ;)

When you book a placeholder is it $200 per person?

No, it is just $200 regardless of the number of people you are booking for. When you move the placeholder to an actual cruise, you will pay the additional amount based on either 10% or 20% of the cruise cost, depending on length of cruise.

Thanks for the quick reply. Sounds like a great way to book our next cruise.

Just realized the one we want to book is blacked out for the on board booking discount. Does anyone know if we would still get to book onboard with the 10% down rate for a cruise of 7 or more nights or should we just book it now?

If you put down $200 for placeholder, what is the timeline that you need to sail by? Is it 18 months or am I imagining that?

Thanks PrincessShmoo. And by doing the placeholder, am I securing the price that it is currently being offered, even though we'd be possibly be sailing 24 mos later???? Haven't done this before.

If the date you wish to cruise isn't yet available for booking, you book a placeholder. There is no "fare" to lock-in, since essentially there is no cruise offered yet. Once you change the placeholder to a real date, then you will lock-in the fare for that cruise.

Enjoy your cruises!
