Has anyone stayed here yet?

DH has a conference here mid February and I am tagging along and of course we had to add a few extra days. I have an AP so I can hit the parks while dh goes to meetings -

Any information yet on this new resort would be greatly appreciated.

I haven't stayed there, but I can say it is a beautiful resort. There are some pretty nice restaurants and it is close to WDW.

We live right behind there (so obviously have never stayed there). But it looks great and the Champions Gate area is really nice. It is about 15 minutes (depending on I-4 traffic) to WDW.

The only info I can give you other than the daily drive by is to look at the web page... http://www.omnihotels.com/hotels/default.asp?h_id=65

I never even thought about going their for dinner, thanks for the idea Ted...we are always looking for something new near our home :)

Another poster that lives very close. I haven't stayed there but it is a new hotel and there has been a writeup in the Orlando Sentinel about.

The countryside is very pretty and I hear the lazy river is great.

Just be aware that they are going to start working on I-4 at 192. To get to the parks take the Magic Kingdom exit and you can avoid all the construction.

Thanks everyone!!

I have seen the website and the resort looks wonderful. I just got some information e-mailed to me from Omni regarding the suttle service. It looks like they only have 2 trips in the am to the parks and 2 in the afternoon and two in the evening returning, based on park closing.

I am spoiled by WDW Resorts and don't usually rent a car. With DH at meetings I thought I could just "hop over the the parks" with my AP but I will have to rethink that. I think I will plan on some taxi $ esp for the return trips. Any quess on the average cab fare each way?

TIA

We ate at the "Sports Pub" there. it was a couple days after the place opened. Everyone there was so excited. Even the "pub" is over-the-top with leather seating with granite tables. It was a bit pricey for a lunch. Holly's club sandwich was $8 or so.

I really want to try out Zen. I love sushi. The only places I have gotten sushi was at Wolfgang Puck's and California Grill. I am hoping Zen is good. I mean, it is definitely the closest.

I4 in this area is under construction and as Safetymom said, the 192 phase will start soon. If I4 is slow when we are heading that way, we take the first Disney exit. It isn't always the most direct route, but it sure is less busy.

I don't know about cab fare. When I paid $20 to get from the Polynesian to Downtown Disney, I never considered a taxi again.

If you plan ahead, I suppose the fare won't be too much of a burden.
