So, I have a highly coveted Le Cellier dinner invitation. I am looking forward to the new menu. I loved the coffee rubbed Kansas strip but it's gone.

I want to try the lobster salad and the ravioli with oxtails. DH is looking at the ribeye.

We are not on the dining plan as DS will be 10 and there are times he will want an appie, kids meal or an entree from the adult menu. He will eat fish, all sorts of pastas, meats, veggies and loves Caesar's salad.

I have a restaurant.com coupon for Shula's. We are staying at Yacht Club and really like Le Cellier. Help, looking for reviews, pictures, advice.

Thanks!

We are in a similar boat, however our planned trip is not until the end of November so I am going to go ahead and make a Le'cellier lunch and dinner res and see how the reviews continue. I suspect we will probably end up only going for lunch and changing the dinner res, keeping in mind that shula's will be a much easier ressie to get later on.

The reason I feel okay about making a ressie I am not sure about is that Lecellier is going to keep changing the dinner menu so there is no way to know what to expect in November at this point. We are also hoping to get some feedback on the ribeye.

Like you we enjoyed the Le'Cellier atmosphere, which is why Yachtsman is not a consideration for us. We were there before and hated it. The steak was great (but my understanding is that Shula's is a lot better), but the atmosphere and everything else was sub-par for us.

If we do not do Le'Cellier we will do Shula's. which makes sense for us, as long as we are prioritizing steak. Since it sounds like you are interested in the other menu items, LeCellier may really be a winner for you.

Does this help at all?

That's definitely true. I really enjoyed my 3 dinners at Le Cellier; I ordered the duck, cod, and salmon. But I was surprised to see that the duck and cod were quickly cut from the menu (replacing these items are beef and chicken).

So the menu is definitely changing. Personally, I loved the lobster chopped salad and I liked the oxtail ravioli that came with the cod (it was the cod accompaniment before it became an appetizer). But in terms of steak, I can't provide much feedback - I didn't order steak there, I would only get the filet or beef tenderloin.

If it helps, here are pics of the lobster chopped salad and oxtail ravioli with bok choy (underneath the cod).

Shula's is GREAT! DH and I usually share a steak and sides--the portions are HUGE! The crab macaroni and cheese is our favorite side. Yum! Can't wait to go back next month.

I'd prefer Shula's over Le Cellier any day....:thumbsup2

For the best steak on property go to Shulas and don't forget to order the apple pie mmmmm

Before the recent upgrade to a Signature restaurant, my family was a bit disappointed with Le Cellier.

On a more recent trip, we all enjoyed Shula's. It reminded me of many local-for-me NY steakhouses.....with an exceptional chocolate souffle for dessert.

Yachtsman Steakhouse is on my family's radar for our next trip....my wife liked the room and would rather go here than back to Shula's (and she really loves chocolate souffle).....but the blogsphere recommends Shula's steak over Yachtsman.....

I have a dinner ressie for Le Cellier, we have never been there before and since we are on the DxDP this trip were going to try dinner.

I have read a lot of good reviews for Yachtsmens Steakhouse if we were not doing Le Cellier that is where we would go to

So glad to hear we're not the only ones. One meal at Le Cellier - dh and I looked at each other and said "Really? This is what all the hype is about?? "

We have a Shula's in town, so that's not a vacation meal for us - but hands down, Shula's is 1000x better food, IMO.

It seems as fashionable to bash le Cellier nowadays as it was to praise it just a few months back. Personally, I've had both the old and new menus and loed it both times, but myself and my kids are all steak eaters.

My son is 11, and sounds very similar to your son's taste. He stated to me that Le Cellier's caesar salad was one of the best he's ever had. He also enjoyed the fillet mignon and chocolate mousse for desert.

Personally, I think which is a better steak house is a matter of degrees. I wouldn't complain going any of Disney's steak houses, and have had equally great food at all of them.

Not me, I was and have been a Le Cellier basher when being a Le Cellier basher was not cool on the DIS and was considered blasphemy, almost worthy of being shunned. :goodvibes

In my opinion, as a huge steak lover, I thought it was a rather average experience at best. As for opinions, I guess they are like belly buttons and booty's, we all have one and they are all different. :lmao:

To put it frankly, there is no comparison to the quality of steaks at Shula's and Le Cellier. Shula's is just a vastly superior steakhouse. If you want a more varied menu, Yachtsman will do, but for steak alone, you can't do better on Disney property than Shula's.

I don't think anyone would think you're crazy for dropping your Le Cellier reservation in favor of Shula's.

I really want to like Le Cellier. I've eaten their for lunch and three times for dinner, over a period of 6 years and they have all been nasty. Bad service and sub par food.

Looking at these pictures and the new menu, it gives me hope that I may give it one more try next year. Shula's is an excellent steak house that I recommend. Yachtsman underwhelmed me.

Shula's is much the beter restaurant. But check the menu first to see if DS will find something he'll like.

We prefer Shula's over LeCellier also. The quality cannot compare actually.... LeCellier is not that bad but not top notch.

Hi all! Thank you so very much for your opinions. I am going to go with.... Shula's. We are looking forward to the crab Mac and cheese and sharing the 24 oz porterhouse. I'm not worried about DS- he will always find something to eat!

Yes! Thank you for being the first to reply to my post. We decided on Shula's because DH was looking for steak and a good one! Maybe we'll be able to squeeze in both! You never know....

I have to tell you- Your reviews of the new Le Cellier menu is what made me want to try the non-steak choices. Everything looked so great!

I agree with you! I think the bashing occurrs even more now that it's two credits. When it was seen as a one credit meal it was absolutely one of the best "values." I never had a bad meal there, in fact it was some of our best while at Disney. There are threads every day- 2 credits of LC or Yachtman.

This year we are not on the dining plan so we are branching out to new places and of course still going to some old favorites.
