OMG! That was RUDE!

I got a phone call tonight from "Horizon Travel". They wanted to "give" us a weekend in Cancun, free airfare and free hotel. We would just have to drive to Arlington (which could be 30 minutes or could be more depending on where in Arlington) and listen to a 90 minute presentation about this travel agency. And only 200 of these offers are being made! And we don't have to buy anything! And it's not a time share!
I told the guy we aren't interested. He said I sounded skeptical and I must not understand the offer. Excuse me? I told him I DO understand, but we wouldn't be able to use a weekend in Cancun. I failed to tell him we are averaging 2 trips to Disney each year and working on more! I did tell him our travel for the next year is already booked and our allotted vacation days are all going towards those trips. That part is true. So he goes "OK, Mrs. Skellington!" and he HUNG UP ON ME! JERK!
DH said that is probably NOT a good way to gain customers. So I want you all to know the guy from HORIZON TRAVEL IN ARLINGTON, TX was RUDE and HUNG UP ON ME! So there!
And in case any of you are thinking of taking him up on his offer, remember you will have to have a passport for travel to Mexico. My AAA magazine said passports cost about $90 per person for adults. Free vacation my rear!

I think if you had continued with this call, he might have ended up asking you for your credit card number. He figured he wasn't going to get it and hung up. More time to move on to the next mark.

These guys have been around for a while and they are a timeshare seller if I'm not mistaken. I always let the answering machine deal with them.

I have been getting telemarketers hanging up on me too!! Just the other day someone called for something... OH!! Dish Network! ANd wanted to know if I wanted to hear the specials. I was like- ok. Then he starts rambling about the specials for NEW customers, and I said, "Wait- we already have Dish Network....Hello? HELLO?!" THE GUY HUNG UP AS SOON AS I SAID THAT!!!!! I was so mad. I thought that maybe they had specials for existing customers- so not only was my time wasted, but I got hung up on.

So, I know how you feel.

The Caller ID showed "unavailable" but I was standing beside the phone so I just answered it. Not typical behavior for me. I should have asked him where he got our names, because he originally asked for DH.
A guy from CitiBank called last night and he was very polite when I told him the APR and annual fee on the card he was offering were too high. I should really stop answering those calls.

To be honest- they don't care AT ALL because they are a service hired out by the company, they don't actually work for the company in MOST cases. I did a telemarketing stint (I know, please no ) for about a month (I cried nearly every day). Anyway- had to sell newspapers- to people in PA, OK, and CA. I live in IL. People would ask me specifics about the paper and I would just die laughing, because I had never even been to those three states, much less read their newspapers!!

ETA- I always try to be polite, so no matter what anyone is selling, I tell them that I already have it. They will then ask how you like whatever it is and hang up. Or just tell them you are on the "Do Not Call" list.

No, he knew our real last name! But the tone he used when he said it was really not nice. It actually sounded like he was gearing up to say more, but then he hung up. I didn't tell him I only go to Disney. He didn't need to know that.

I can't recall when the new passport rules take effect. I don't think a passport is required yet, but the guy was stressing to me how the offer was good until NEXT April. So if the rules do change for '07 I would have needed a passport. At any rate, I don't want to go to Mexico for a weekend. If I am going to bother to go somewhere I want to stay awhile!

Most of these people get hung up on all the time, sometimes the phone is slammed on, sometimes they are cursed out. At least he didn't want to waste any more of your time.

My worst telemarketing call came just before 9/11--I know you're thinking "she remembers a call from way back then" but wait----I suffer from Chronic Insomnia and sleep whenever I can,So this guy calls probably right at 9am,thinking it's DH I answer,this guy starts on his spiel and I interrupt telling him I'm really not interested-not something we can afford--we're leaving the country cause DH is military we've got orders every time I tried to tell him he'd cut me off and go off again,finally I said Sorry we're not interested and hung up.

Well I lay back down shove the phone under the pillow and the phone rings...Again I think it's DH and answer--------THIS MAN CALLED ME BACK!!!!!
and starts giving me crap for hanging up on him!! I told him-"""Look I told you we were not interested like 5 times and you would not stop you kept going thats why I hung up on you and why I'm going to hang up on you now!!""" and I hung up on him again.

About 10 mins goes by the phone rings and i just stared at it for a second thinking no nope it is not him SO I answer and wouldn't you know...
I picked up and he immediately started giving me crap again and I said to him "Are you sh*tting me,you're calling me back-What the F is your problem!

He kept saying I was rude and I told him to stay on the phone giving me crap for as long as he wanted because after the second call I'd notified the phone company of harrassing calls and they were monitoring for any more calls coming in well this time he hung up and I kept waiting for him to call me back but he never did-------I hadn't called the phone co but it got him off the phone.

I don't remember what he was trying to sell me but it was a morning i'll never forget.

I hate Horizon Travel.. They call me probably every few months to come to their presentation in Arlington.. The first time I was polite and said I wasnt interested and they got rude, so now as soon as they identy themselves I say Im not interested and just hang up the phone without saying anything further..
